Chapter 5, A despair-filled heart

Armin stared at the girl sadly. He knew why the others had acted like that but still this was too much for him to take in. Torturing someone so badly, he didn't like this. He feared that they'd just continue torturing her if he wouldn't be able to get any information out of her. He decided to try his best. He wondered what he could do to gain her trust again.

Annie was still unconscious at least it seemed so since she had her eyes closed. Actually she was awake but had a plan in her mind that she's soon start. She needed to seem like she was sleeping so he wouldn't suspect anything. It started to get annoying though how he kept mumbling something himself. She wouldn't let her wounds heal just yet or that'd get his attention.

Armin had been there for thirty minutes and everyone was getting just more irritated.

"Mattaku", Levi mumbled annoying. He had his arms crossed. He didn't like Armin's way of dealing with things.

"Believe me! Sometimes it is better to use words! It might just work!" Hanji spoke excited.

"You really believe so shit glasses? As if that bitch could trust us again.. unless she really is stupid", Levi hummed and sighed.

"Could you two just shut up.. please", Eren sighed and held his head. Again he was seeing some of his father's memories and his mental health kept suffering because of it.

"Tch, we're your superiors brat", Levi spoke and glared at him now.

The atmosphere wasn't nice. Connie and Sasha didn't dare to say anything. They kept quiet. Jean was mumbling himself. He didn't want to forgive Annie who most likely had something to do with Marco's death.

Suddenly Annie jumped up from the bed and immediately pushed Armin against a wall. He had no time to react and before he could say anything Annie had placed her other hand on his mouth. She couldn't afford to let him shout for help because she wouldn't be able to take on many people at the same time when she was still in such a weak state. Her wounds started healing now since she had let them but it'd take some time.

"Annie", Armin mumbled and glared at her. Annie felt her heart hurting and she seemed slightly surprised now. Armin had changed. He really had.

"Nani? This time I'll kill you for sure", Annie hissed and slammed her hands on his neck. She started squeezing his neck and stared at him with a murderous look on her face. She felt like she could do anything. Even killing him seemed easy. He was weak physically after all.

"Annie.." Armin whined and tried to get air but it seemed impossible. She was serious. She was seriously trying to kill him. He grabbed to her wrists and squeezed slightly. It was a desperate try to get her grip to come loose.

Annie wasn't squeezing as strongly now. Before she'd kill him she wanted to have a little talk. More like to release all her anger and sadness on him by insulting him as a person.

"Armin, I never thought that you'd someday turn out to be the person you are now", Annie hummed disappointed.

"S–soka.. W–well too bad Annie", Armin grinned a bit and stared at her. He saw through her now. He knew what she was feeling right now and he had decided to help her with it by annoying her just more.

Annie's hands shook slightly before he started squeezing more again. Armin closed his eyes when it hurt.

"You don't know anything!" Annie raised her voice too much and the others could hear it. Levi kicked the door open and right away Mikasa kicked Annie away from Armin. Armin fell on his knees to cough. He could get air again and his lungs hurt a lot. He was staring at the floor before lifting his head to look at Annie. She just won Mikasa in a fight but now Eren attacked her and nailed her from her wrists with his hands to the wall. She was hissing and glared at Eren. She'd never trust them again.

"M–matte", Armin spoke quietly.

"But she almost killed you!" Eren shouted. He'd always care for him though they sometimes had huge disagreements.

"She has her reasons.. just –like we do", Armin spoke calmly and stood up. He took some longer breaths now.

"So.. You suggest that we'd start from a clean table? Cleanliness is very good but a bitch like her will never be pure again", Levi spoke and glared at the girl. Annie glared back at him and kicked Eren to balls before kicking him to face. He ended falling on his back to the ground. Before Mikasa could get to him Annie placed her foot on his chest and started pressing.

"Don't come any closer", she spoke and moved his finger closer to her mouth. She was ready to bite on it and turn into a titan. 

"Wait Annie! We can talk this through!", Armin begged and Annie glanced at him.

"Why should I trust you people.. you could never trust me am I right? If I recall I killed many and I can't take it back..", she spoke emptily and then sighed. She finally calmed down.

 "Am I really such a good person to you.. Armin?" Annie hummed calmly and moved her foot aside. Mikasa now went to drag Eren away from Annie. She'd get her revenge for sure. 

"I told you already. I don't like that word. It depends on how you'll act. If you go now.. you'll be a bad person in my eyes.. but if you stay.. you'll be a good person", Armin spoke calmly and took few steps closer.

Annie's hand shook slightly when she relaxed it and it slowly dropped down. Then she turned to look at the floor. Now they had a good chance to tackle her or whatever they'd want to do since she was letting them to do so. She was so tired to this. She stared at the floor emptily.

"I just want the weak who do get swept along with the flow, be considered human too", Annie hummed quietly and seemed sad.

"I know and by that.. you mean yourself, am I right, Annie?" Armin spoke and smiled slightly. He just couldn't see her as a bad person. Only most of her actions had been bad ones but deep inside she was a good person who just wanted to be rescued from the hell she had fallen into.

Annie gasped surprised and lifted her head to stared at him her eyes wide open. Some tears started to form in her eyes.

"Armi---", she started quietly when the roof suddenly fell on them and everything turned black.
