Chapter 6, I'm sorry

The bored looking blonde turned to look at me. She was beautiful as always. I had always felt like she was keeping something hidden under that strong image of hers. Somehow I had started to understand her better during all the years but I never had had enough courage to just go to her and try being friends with her. That was the kind of guy I had always been. A coward.

"Say... Do I really seem like such a good person to you?" The girl asked emptily and sighed. She seemed so tired but was showing how she trusted me. My heart already hurt. I'd need to convince her so she'd fall to our trap.

"A good person? Well.. I don't particularly like that term. I mean, that just... seems like something you'd call someone who's of use to you. And I don't think there's anyone who's of use to everyone. That said, if you don't agree to cooperate... you'd be a bad person in my eyes, right?" I decided to give a long answer so she'd have no choice but to agree or disagree. Í made sure that she'd hesitate by giving her some pressure.

It seemed to work since Annie then agreed. My heart just hurt more when we were walking to the place with Eren and Mikasa. When we were heading down the stairs, Annie suddenly stopped and wouldn't come down. I turned to look at the girl. Something told me that I shouldn't be doing this. This was wrong but I needed to. The girl was showing signs of fear.

Eren was the first one to open his eyes. He hadn't got any serious injuries and even if he would have they'd heal soon anyway. He had bruises and a deep cut on his cheek. He kept coughing when there was a lot of dust in the air. He tried seeing around if others were alright but it was hard to see because of the dust. There was a lot of it and he had got some tiny dust particles in his eyes. He kept rubbing his eyes and cursed. Then he coughed again and hit his fist against the floor. He had a bad feeling of this but there was no time to rage it out now. He felt worried of the others.

"Mikasa! Armin!" He shouted at first because they were the dearest people he had in his life. They didn't answer and now he got seriously worried. Armin would be fine with his titan power but what about Mikasa? What if she had got seriously injured?

"Mikasa! Answer baka!" Eren shouted angrily and stood up to his shaking feet. He started searching for her while shaking from anger. He actually just felt really worried but released it by being angry.

Annie opened her eyes slowly by. Her body felt sore and she felt dizzy. She felt shocked to smell blood. Armin was on her, hugging her but his body felt so cold and he wasn't moving nor breathing. Annie gasped when she remembered how he had hugged her and pushed her down when the roof had fallen on them. She placed him on his side when she noticed how a metal pipe had gone through his chest. She had been lucky and hadn't got injured. Thanks to him.

"C-close to.. he–heart.. ah" Annie stared at the boy in shock. He had hit his head too and there was blood everywhere. She was sitting on the floor and shaking. Deep inside she had always feared this. That he'd get hurt. Slowly she tried his pulse. It indeed was gone. She took a deep breath and didn't know what to do. She thought that Armin was a normal human being and kept repeating in her mind how the injury was a deadly one.

"I can't save him! I c–can't.." She started shedding tears and just wanted this nightmare to end. She didn't want to give up. She slapped his cheek and hoped that she was wrong with the metal pipe going through his heart.

"W-w–a.. ke up.. I-- I just got you back... Now you are trying to---- leave me again!! You selfish boy!!!" She snapped when she felt so anxious. She was squeezing his shirt and whisper shouting his name repeatedly.
