"I'm home!" I announced loudly as I dropped my keys in the bowl in front of the door.

Several faint voices came from the kitchen as I hung my coat on the hanger in the entryway.

"Hello?" I yelled as I slid my shoes off under the bench that sat in the foyer.

"Yes," I heard Kaelen reply over dishes clanging together in the sink.

As I rounded the corner to the dining room, Rhyland, my brother, sat on a stool at the counter and opposite him was our friend, Mateo. They were laughing over a cups of what was most likely vodka.

"Really guys!?" I jokingly yelled as I walked up behind them.

"Whaaat," Mateo whined, his body drooping over the chair.

I laughed at them, this was a normal thing for them to do. My brother usually bought because he was older.

"So what did I miss?" I asked, making my way over to cabinet of cups above Kaelen's head.

"I tried to keep them from getting too wild with the drinks and all but you know that isn't always so successful." Kaelen laughed, red liquid dripped from his hands as he washed what looked like my drink mixer.

Kaelen didn't drink as often as us, he was kind of like the responsible one of the group when has a few too many. He was the youngest but acted like our parent at times. He drove us home from parties, kept us from many hospital visits, he was always there for us.

"Poor me some. God knows I need it," I whispered as I sat down in the stool next to Mateo.

I hung my head low, contemplating everything that happened that day.

"Hey man, what's wrong?" Rhy asked concerned, putting his hand on my hand.

I exhaled after gulping down a significant amount.

"I met someone," I scoffed, before swallowing more, the liquid burning my throat.
