"Thanks for driving me to the hospital." she said while clutching her foot from the passenger seat of Mackenzie's car.

"I wasn't going to make you walk." she looked over at her for a moment, before putting her eyes back on the road.

"Well, thanks anyways." she was staring intently at the bottom of her foot.

"Just don't make a habit of stepping on glass, 'kay?" Mackenzie teased her.

"Uh, I think I got some blood on the floor."

"How much?"

"Not that much."

"Then don't worry about it..."

"No, wait. That's a lot of blood."

Mackenzie started to drive faster, going at least twelve miles over the speed limit.

He sat alone, in the dark, and thought. He had gone over what had happened many times.

-He asked her to marry him

-She couldn't give him an answer

-She ran off

-He was left alone

Which brings us to where we are now, Harry is sitting in the cold and lonely darkness as he thought of what had went wrong.

I knew that she wanted to have some time, why couldn't I have given it to her?

She knew that it wasn't going to go anywhere between us, but I didn't listen. It's my fault that she didn't say yes. Let's think of it this way: she didn't say "yes", but she didn't say "no" either.

"Hello?... I'm sorry I don't know a 'Mackenzie'... Oh, okay... Well thank you... Bye."

"Hey, Niall, who was that?" Liam asked him from the other end of the sofa.

"Mackenzie, Eli's roommate."

"What did she need?"

"Eli stepped on some glass and cut her foot."

"Is she okay?" he sat up straight from his relaxed position.

"Yeah, she going to be okay."

"Niall?"

"Yeah?"

"How come Eli has your number in her phone, but not mine?"

"I guess she just likes me more than you."

"No I don't think that's it."

"I've known her longer."

"By like six hours, that doesn't count. It probably has something to with the fact that you're her best friend's boyfriend."

"Not for much longer..."

Chealsi was sitting on the couch with the three boys next to her. She had started babysitting them after Eli left because there was no one to look after them while Mr.Kirkshaw was working.

Her phone began to buzz next to her. "Hey guys behave for one moment." she stood up from the couch and went outside to answer. "Hello?"

"Hey, Chealsi. It's Niall." he sounded nervous.

"I know, that's what the caller I.D. said." she chuckled.

"Oh, okay. Well, I wanted to call because I haven't talked to you at all this week."

"I know, how is everything?"

"It could be better, but I guess it's alright."

"I'm sorry that not everything is going well."

"No, well yeah that is sorta' the reason. Just kind of crazy here."

"I guessed, considering who you're with."

"Who am I with?"

"Eli, she's crazy."

"Oh, yeah. She stepped on some glass earlier."

"Is she okay?"

"Yeah it's not that bad."

"Oh, well okay."

"I know I just got back, but I was thinking of flying there for a few days."

"Oh, really? Why?"

"I need to talk to you about something."

"And you can't just tell me now?"

"No, it's important," his voice went shy, "I need to tell you in person."

"Oh...okay then. Well I've got to go. Bye."

"Bye."

She knew all too well what those words meant, and she wasn't too thrilled about it. She thought everything was alright between them, but they say long distance relationships never last. At least he had the decency to do it in person, and not over the phone or through text.

"That was interesting." she sat up in the passenger seat.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I was just trying to get there sooner." her earrings jingled as she moved her head.

"You're too nice. I don't deserve a roommate like you." she rested her head on her elbow.

"You're nice, Eli, most of the time." she admitted.

"No, I'm a bitch. Just admit it."

"You can't think that."

"If I wasn't such a bitch, then why didn't I say 'yes?'"

"'Yes' to what?"

"To Harry. He proposed, but I didn't say 'yes.'" she hiccupped.

"Hey, how much pain killer did they give you?"

"Um, a lot. Why?"

"Oh, just wondering... When we get back, I think you need to rest. Sleep off the medication."

"Sounds good to me." she yawned and softly shut her eyes.

There was a soft rap at the door.

Eli?

He stood up to answer the door, not giving it a second thought. He swung the door open, a smile on his face, but quickly faded.

"Hello, Harry!"
