He stood still for moment, trying to make sense of the situation he had put himself into.

"Uh...hello." he looked down at the small blonde that stood before him. "Aren't you Eli's roommate?"

"How sweet, you remembered me." she walked past him, inviting herself in. "I'm Mackenzie, by the way." she took off her coat, and stung it over her arm. It seemed as though she was planning to stay for a while.

"Okay, Mackenzie, what are you doing here?"

"Do you not want me here?"

"It's not that, it's jus-... no I don't want you here."

"That's a bit rude, but I'll be willing to overlook that..."

"What do you mean?"

She yawned, and looked around a bit. It was quiet and dark, and the creepy feeling of someone watching her hung in the darkness.

"Harry?" it slipped from her mouth without her thinking. Why would Harry be here? He doesn't even know what happened. I don't even know what happened.

She tried to remember what had happened before she was in the emergency room, but nothing that made any sense came to her.

Her mind kept replaying what had happened earlier that day. He proposed, and she didn't say "yes." And the more she thought about it, the more she was able to talk herself out of it.

If I did, then we'd be together all the time, but if I did, we'd be together all the time. If I don't, I may never see him again, and I don't want that to happen. I love him, but...

"It's complicated." she said aloud, finishing her thoughts. Her eyes became watery, and tears streaked her face.

She usually didn't cry, crying doesn't help anything. Maybe she was tired and couldn't fight back the tears, but this was the day that she finally broke. Once she started crying, she didn't stop for a long while. Everything that had happened in the past twelve years caught up with her at one time. Anything that was ever worth crying about, she was crying about now.

"I don't even know why I thought I had a chance." she whispered to herself. "I'm just a dumb girl, I'm nothing special."

At the darkest of her hours, the ringing of her phone dragged her out of her thoughts. She tried to ignore it, but it seemed to ring forever.

"Hello?" she tried her best to sound as if she hadn't been crying, but her voice didn't stay steady.

"Hey, Eli. Is everything alright?"

"Um, yeah." she wiped the tears off her face, even though she could not be seen. "Who is this?"

"It's me, Liam. I'm guessing you still haven't put me in your phone."

"No, sorry about that." she wiped her eyes, again. "So, what's up?"

"You know exactly 'what's up'. Why don't you tell me?"

"What are you talking about?"

"I just so happened to hear, that Harry proposed."

"Yeah, he did..."

"So, have you set a date, yet?"

"A date for what?"

"The wedding."

"We're not going to have a wedding."

"But I thought he proposed."

"He did."
