I stood there, staring into his bright blue eyes and sparkling smile.
I snapped out of it as I noticed he extended his hand out.
I felt my cheeks warm up, "Haha thank you! I'm McKenna, McKenna Lee Johnson, nice to meet you", I say with a smile. He smiles back.
"Well, I'm sure you spoke to my mom earlier, she just sent me over to give you guys this small gift", he said gesturing to the bouquet in his hands.
"Thank you so much I appreciate it".
With one last sincere smile he says, "alright then, I'm sure I'll see you around, neighbor".
I smile, "yeah, see ya".
I close the door behind me and mouth "wow". He was so cute!
"McKenna honey, who was it".
I walk into the kitchen and place the bouquet on the table.
"These are from the McKinley's, they seem like really nice people".
My mom let out a sigh of relief, "you know, we should totally invite them for dinner one day".
I was surprised by the excitement I felt. Why did my heartbeat increase? Why did my smile reach my ears? What's so exciting? I never felt this feeling before.
Maybe it's just the lo mein. I shrugged it off and finished up my noodles. Shortly after I helped my mom do the dishes then went upstairs again.
I brushed my teeth and changed into my favorite Victoria's Secret pajamas.
I got into bed and clapped for the lights to go off, but they didn't. I thought how great that would've been if my mom finally let me have them as I reach over my night stand to turn my lamp off.
With that I slept.I woke up to the sun shining on my face, and squirmed at the thought of getting up.
I slowly walked downstairs, but the smell of fresh pancakes wake me right up.
I run into the kitchen, excitement taking over, "Mom you're making pancakes, omg thank you".
She grinned, "I know it's your favorite kiddo, how'd you sleep last night"?
I gave her a thumbs up and went to take a seat.
I scrolled through my phone and texted my friends for a while until my mom placed the stack of pancakes in front of me and said to dig in.
That I did. No shame in it at all. I downed 3 pancakes in 5 minutes tops.
"Woah, slow down there sweetie", she said laughing.
I place my plate in the sink and made my way to the bathroom to freshen up.
Maybe I should use a bath bomb today.
Nah, I'll deserve one when I finish setting up my room.
What should I do today? Watch TV?
Truth is, all I wanted to do was talk to Caleb. C.A.L.E.B, my cheeks warmed up as his name rolled off my tongue like I've known him for years. To be honest, it felt like I did. There was really no awkwardness. Or was that just me?
Oh lord does he think I'm weird?
C'mom McKenna why're you so awkward?
I shrug the feeling off and decide it's best I read a book.
I sit by my window and get lost in the story.
When I reached to get a glass of water, from the corner of my eye I noticed someone walking across their lawn.
It was Caleb.
He was walking towards this red convertible car with "Hot Stuff" as the license plate. I rolled my eyes, how extra.
Out walked a brunette girl, she looked about my age.
Maybe even a year older.
I watch as she walks toward Caleb and gives him a hug.
Who is this girl? His friend? Sister maybe?
My jaw dropped at what I saw next.
She looked up into his eyes and kissed him, smack on the mouth.
Definitely not a friend.
Turns out Caleb McKinley has a girlfriend.
