I should've realized that the cheetah was the Guardian when it attacked! I had a chance to kill it and possibly find out who the Ruler was, even though I had a fair idea of who it was already. At this point, I'm simply following along for the ride. Even from before we entered, I had a strange feeling about it. I was thrown back into my memories of running around in the lavender fields; mother's favorite. My siblings and I would spread our wings and fly around, tormenting beetles and ants. Then we started to grow apart. We would still go hunting, but my brothers grew to be opposite and the same of me. I can still hear the twang of a hunting arrow hitting its target...
Gail shoved me. "What the hell! Can you not feel that?" She pointed to an arrow that had buried itself in my leg.
"Uhh...." I tenderly poked the spot and my finger came away wet with blood. "I think we should try to maybe get away from danger. Just a suggestion, though. We could keep trecking through the woods with crazy people trying to shoot us." I shrugged while the others stood agape. Another arrow wedged itself into my shoulder. I rolled my shoulder uncomfortably, wincing. "Go!" I shoved past them and darted forwards, hearing them charging after me. I leaped over a log as the forest grew denser, threatening to force me into a path. "To the trees!" I shouted in English, discarding my own advice. Sprinting to an extremely tiny and overgrown clearing, I felt my wings rip forth from my back and I launched myself into the air, circling two times before diving into a tree and hiding among the dense foliage.
I got my breathing under control in mere seconds, hiding my wings on the seventh plane once more. The party of hunters had separated and one was below me. He had a dark complex with leaves sewn into his garments. Sticks littered his hair and a crossbow was in his hands, loaded. I nodded to myself and dropped, gravity doing the rest. I clamped my hand around the man's mouth and wrapped my legs around his, locking us together. I quickly rolled away and came out on top, my knife at his throat. The man chuckled and looked over my shoulder. My head whipped backward just as another person came crashing down onto me. I finally got a good look at who I was facing, and I paled. The boy was as pale as I, his dark brown hair rustled into a strikingly handsome organized mess. His wore a simple white tunic tucked into leather pants. He had freckles sprinkling his face and blazing gray eyes.
"Tyler." He snarled.
"Casper," I responded. I shoved him off of me and leaped to my feet as he did and we started circling each other, daggers in hand. "Long time, no see."
"If I never saw you again it'd have been too soon." Casper shot back.
"Why? I thought you'd have missed the best hunter in the group."
"Spare me your smooth talk." He hissed, making a sudden lunge. I leaped at him and we met in mid-air, falling to the ground and wrestling for control over the other. In one motion I rolled on-top of Casper and put my hands around his throat. His eyes went wide as he clawed at my arms, leaving small scratches in their wake. I snarled and shook his neck viciously, paying no heed to the area around me, though I knew the girls were being taken at the moment. Casper's body squirmed under me and I felt his life force ebbing, his eyes wide and pleading, attack growing weaker.
I was dragged and shoved from him by multiple pairs of hands, unaware of the red around my vision until it was fading. The hands belonged to the girls. Casper was coughing and heaving in air, hunters surrounding him. The men easily plucked the angry girls from me and the ground, tying their hands together.
"Hullo ladies and boy. I see you've met Casper. Captain will be pleased to see some fresh faces." The big man had a drawn, closed face, which was contorted in anger. "Lads, let's show 'em hospitality."
A/N: Sorry for the late update and crappy quality. I promise good stuff is coming soon! I think... Anyways, shout out to Bella/Vamp for making me do this!
