Next Week
"Michael!" Abby calls me. I turn around bumping into four teenagers who yell back "Watch it punk." I ignore their rude comments and look up at Abby.
She was wearing a black and red hoodie with black skinny jeans that had numerous holes. Her long hair flows from her hoodie and drapes down around her shoulders.
Our eyes meet and I can tell by the expression on her face, she's upset. "Yes Abby?" I ask a little uneasy and frightened by her death stare. We continue walking down the hall before stopping at our lockers.
"Why do you talk to me?" I turn my head towards her to see her looking anxious and cranky.
I try and hide my feelings for her by making up a lie. "I talk to you because you seem like a nice person." I then feel slight discomfort in my jaw.
"You're lying.." Her eyes filling with pure anger.
"No I- I'm not." The pain grows immensely up to my head. I clutch my hair and lean back against my locker. I let out a small shriek as the pain gets deeper. "I talk to you because I like you!" I admit.
All the pain suddenly goes away and she smiles an innocent smile. "You like me?"
I blink a couple times to adjust to the setting and stretch my jaw out. "Uh..yea. I do.." My palms get sweaty and my face turns a bright red.
Before either of us can say another word the bell rings. I realize we're late for our first period class. We walk side to side, awkwardly up the stairs to our new class. We don't speak to each other, due to the tension of my feelings being spilled out on her.
As we make our way into class, Mr. Jamesworthy lectures us and gives us our assignment without explaining. This time I tried to concentrate but this girl is making me so nervous. In a good way, and bad way.
She brushes her arm against mine. Her touch gives me the chills. I shiver and pull away from her as her body is very cold.
"Michael?"
I look up from my worksheet, "Yes?"
She nervously plays with her fingers and looks down. I find it cute how she gets nervous when we talk. "I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime. I'm walking to a secret place tomorrow, and I want to know if you would come with me."
I shudder at the thought of being alone with this mysterious girl, but at the same time smile happily at the thought of being alone with her.
I nod my head "So what time?"
"5."
I nod slowly looking into her eyes. A red fiery spark circles around her pupil.
I notice this happens to her when she gets nervous. I find it very attractive, not weird.
"Meet me at the old oak tree down the block. I'll be waiting Michael."
I find the last part kind of creepy, but shrug it off and give her a friendly smile. Happy and excited for tomorrow's journey with Abby.
