I woke up. I couldn't breathe. My throat ached. I put my hand over my throat and coughed. I rolled to my side. Looking out the window. It was still dark out. I turned on my light. I looked around the room. My eyes still trying to focus. I saw something. A figure. Someone tall and slender. Standing at the end of my bed. Was it Jackson? I couldn't be. Jackson was to short to be him

"Hello?" I asked. My heart beat was picking up, I was trying to concentrate on whatever was there.

" Coraline, it's just me, Jackson. I heard you coughing, are you okay?" I sighed in relief.

" Yeah I'm okay, I just had a dry throat. Also, don't scare me like that again!" I wiggled my finger at Jackson, shaking it from side to side. Jackson laughed, he walked back to his room silently.

"If you need anything whisper my name or something, I'll come in." He said, closing his door. It was weird how easy he could hear me. Even just a faint whisper he heard me. I wonder what else he has been hearing me say.

"Jackson.. Come here." I said. Obviously whispering. My door opened.

"Yes?" He laid himself against my door frame. His eyebrows raised.

"When you said you could hear me whisper, does that mean you can hear everything I say?" I asked.

"Yes... I can. Why?" Jackson seemed ashamed of what he was saying, like he was being some kind of pervert. But he wasn't.

"Do you hear me whispering at night? All though it seems like I'm talking to myself, a lot." I sat up, I was exited, yet fearful of his answer.

"Yes m'am." Jackson pulled his lips to the side.

"Do you hear the things I'm talking to?" I asked. Straightening myself up.

"No, I don't hear anything except you talking to yourself." He laughed, like it was some kind of joke.

"It's not funny Jackson, and I am most certainly not talking to myself. I know that I'm not." I said with a harsh tone.

"Okay, anyways, goodnight Coraline, see you in the morning." He left. Not letting me add what I was going to say in, how rude. I laid back down trying to collect my thoughts.

"You can only hear me.. You're the only one..." I heard a voice say, it sounded close. Like someone was whispering in my ear. I felt breathing. My heart sank. I know that I turned pale. I felt sick at those words. "Don't be scared Coraline... I love you.." The voice repeated itself five times before I ran to the bathroom. I through-up. I looked in the mirror, I splashed water on my face. I looked pale, like a ghost.. Ghost.. Ghost.. Ghost.. I was finding the pieces, but I couldn't put them together, because there is no such things as ghosts is there?

"Coraline, hurry and get ready! We want to get a early breakfast!" Mum called out. Father decided we should all go out to the town on Holmes Chapel and see what's around, get to know everyone.

"I'm coming!" I tied of bow tighter, so it would stay in. Today I was wearing a nice pink skirt, white blouse, pearl earrings with diamonds circling the center, long, white socks, brown boots, and my hair was in a fish-tale braid with a bow at the end. I also added a little accent of small flowers in my hair, cradling the braid. I walked down the dimly lit staircase.

"Coraline..." Dad said. His eyes sparkled, "You look just like your grandmother, so beautiful." He smiled.

"Thank you, father." I felt special when dad said I looked like grandmother Coral.

When go in the town of Holmes Chapel you can tell, it was a friendly environment. Everyone that saw us smiled, or waved hello. I kinda liked it. I walked into a shop that sold fruits. A tall handsome boy with curly brown hair came out to greet me,

"Hello there love, what may I be able to help you with?" He smiled. I wasn't sure if it was a act, or real but I liked it.

"Oh, nothing today, I was just looking around. But thank you anyways." I smiled. Lightly.

"Oh..Alright, anyways I'm John." John held out his hand. He looked at me then his hand, I placed his hand on mine. He was warm, almost hot. "And you are?"

"Coraline," I looked down,

"Coraline it's time to go!" Mum shouted. I quickly looked at John.

"See around," I waved goodbye.  He smiled. I swiflty walked away.

" Who was that Coraline?" Mum asked. She was looking around, at everything. Looking at the buildings, the streets, the signs, the people. It was all so different from Liverpool. Holmes Chapel is such a small town. But I sort of liked this. The new place, town, everything. It was a change, and I needed change.

"Coraline, look. Are those some kids from your old school?" Jackson pointed to a crowd of familiar faces. But It was no one I hung out with.

" Yeah, those are the preps." I said. Turning my view away from them. I felt something odd. Like someone was holding me close, to its self. I started to feel breathing againest my neck. I started to walk. As I did this the feeling went away.
