The hot water touched my pale skin has I stepped in the shower. Even though I was alone, I felt "exposed"; was he there? Watching me? Looking at my nude body? I felt my cheeks get hot. Goose bumps spread all over.
"Don't worry love, I give you your space when you need it." Harry whispered. His whisper wasn't close, but far. Like he was behind the door. Or through the walls. I didn't feel so embarrassed anymore.
I went out to the orchard to pick apples, or maybe that was my excuse to get out of the house. I just needed time alone. I let my mind go blank; crows chirping, wind howling, the sound of trees moving side-to-side. I found myself laying on the cold earth. Red, yellow, and orange leaves fell from every direction; landing on me. The leaves rustled up in a small tornado. I knew it was Harry. The leaves swirled around me. I giggled.
"You're beautiful." Harry's voice smooth. I smiled. I covered my face.
"Can I please be alone, Harry?" I didn't mean to sound rude.
"Did I do something? Oh please tell me what I did to upset you, darling." His voice light, but muffled.
"You didn't do anything. I just want to be alone." I was plain.
"As you wish." The leaves slowly stopped twirling around me. I was alone.
"Coraline? We have visitors!" Mother shouted from the stairs. I quickly got up and followed down the steps. I saw unfamiliar faces. A middle aged lady with curly strawberry blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and a pointed nose. Standing next to her was a older man. He was quite tall, brown hair, the same blue eyes has his wife. Next to the odd couple stood a boy, who looked to be my age. He had brown hair, bright blue eyes, and a smile to die for.
"Coraline, this is Anné, Rick, and Kaleb Fletcher." My mom pushed me toward the family. I held out my hand. Anné first grabbed my hand, then Rick, and then Kaleb. He lightly touched my hand, he smiled.
"Okay, kids. How about you guys go outside or go in the living room. While we adults talk." Mother said. We did has we were told and went into the living room. It was silent; edgy, alittle awkward.
"So Coraline, how long have you lived here?" He looked straight into my eyes.
"Uhh- umm." I stuttered. "Quite sometime now actually." I smiled. He didn't say anything but he kept starring. Even when I looked away. I would find him still looking at me.
"Move away from him." A demanded voice said. "Move now." I ignored Harry. "He likes you." I turned my head.
"Stop Harry." I whispered and scolded the air. But I knew he was there.
"You're mine." His voice stern. I felt something wrap around my waist. "Forever."
