"I'm not leaving the apartment," a blanket burrito wrapped Alfie mumbled from the couch. "Where do you even want me to go anyway?"

Veronica rolled her eyes and starting yanking Alfie's blankets off, earning whines from the grown man (child). "I'm not telling you, you need to get out of the house. You look like a kicked puppy and it's making everybody sad."

"She's right!" Jesse called from somewhere in the apartment.

Alfie sighed, running a hand through his dark hair, "Fine, but I'm not changing out of my sweats."

"Fair enough."

"Why are we at a fucking airport?" Alfie asked, looking lost as the pair made their way to the arrivals section. "Wait a minute— Matt's gonna be here, isn't he? Goddamn it, Veronica, why do you do this to me? I don't want to see him— like ever again."

"You sure about that?" a familiar and unwelcome
voice asked. Alfie looked up from the ground, crossing his arms angrily as he stared Matt down.

"Hello, Matthew," he spoke coolly, wanting this to be over.

"Alf—" Matt started to speak, but was cut off by a harsh slap to the face from (not alfie!) Veronica.

"I never said you couldn't text him or talk to him! He's been moping around like a sixteen-year-old loser because he thought you were cheating on him!" she exploded, looking more irritated than angry. She turned to the shorter man, "Alfie, we'd been planning to have Matt surprise you but this asshole thought that meant he couldn't talk to you."

Alfie' face softened but there were still traces of anger and annoyance. "Really? And Veronica, I wanted to be the one to slap him."

"Sorry, Alf."

"You really thought I was cheating?" Matt looked sad, it was clear he was itching to reach out and touch the other yet his hands remained at his sides. "You think I would do that?"

"I didn't know what to think! I was getting complete radio silence from you!" the anger was back, but not at Matt, more just at the world.

Matt's heart fell with his expression, "Alfie, I would never do that to you! I- I just wanted to surprise you!"

"I'm gonna go, you two might wanna talk this out somewhere more private because I see teenage girls coming this way so like— leave," Veronica cut in, turning and walking away. Alfie and Matt turned and sure enough, there were three teenage girls excitedly making their way over to the couple.

Matt instinctively grabbed the other's hand as the two speed walked to a more private place in the airport. Eventually the settled on the furthest back table in a Starbucks.

Alfie snatched his hand away and stared at the table as he fumbled with his phone.

"Why are you so mad at me? I- I just wanted to surprise you."

"I'mnotmad," Alfie mumbled so quickly the other was unable to catch his words. Matt just furrowed his eyebrows so he took a deep breath and spoke again, "I'm not mad. I'm just— I don't know. I'm being petty, what's new? I'm glad you're here."

"You really don't look glad," Matt sounded worried, which was almost laughable since he was unable to see just how in love Alfie was with him.

Alfie just smiled and ran a hand to his hair, his eyes meeting the other's. "You're an idiot."

"What did I do?"

The other just laughed and shook his head. He stood up from his chair and tugged at Matthew's wrist and pulled him up as well. "C'mon babe, let's go home."

"I could have sworn you were mad at me."

Alfie turned and sent a slightly annoyed glare to the other, "Home."

"Okay," Matt smiled, falling into step beside the other, "You should move in with me, y'know."

Alfie nodded, pressing into Matt with his side so there was no space between them as they walked.

"Okay."
