Michael and I didn't do much today other than having me watch him do his work, like his "let's plays." We walked into the school around 3. Kids were piling out like shoppers on Black Friday. Buses filled with kids. I probably should call them teenagers but all the freshmen act like kids. Everyone knows that. It felt weird walking in with Michael. To the office workers he looks like he shouldn't be my legal guardian and should be in college. Kids looked at me oddly. Three girls walked past in cheer uniforms. How cool would it be if I was popular and pretty? I stood next to Michael while he was talking to the ladies at the counter. I felt sick to my stomach just thinking about coming to high school. Michael gave them a couple of forms then he signed some. He handed me a salmon colored paper that had multiple different sections of choices for classes I could take. A slot for my name and something called Career Cluster covered the top of the paper. I look back up at one of the ladies who smiled at me. I smiled back and looked back at the paper. Michael thanked the ladies and led me out. Children were still piling out of the building. The three cheerleaders looked at Michael like he was some really hot celebrity. I change my mind, I don't want to be popular anymore. I don't want to look at Michael like that. Probably because he's supposed be a father figure. We got into the car and Michael immediately pulled out his phone. His phone call came up on the car screen and showed Adam. "Hey, Red, what's up?" His voice was very muffled over the phone. "Hey, I'm going to have to bring (y/n) back into work tomorrow and Friday. Is that okay?" Michael seemed nervous. He probably didn't think this was going to go well for me. "We're not running a fucking daycare, Red." I wanted to laugh because Michael freaked out. "I know and I'm sorry. (Y/n) is in the car with actually, and I have you on speaker, by the way." Adam sighed loudly over the phone. "Why do you have to bring her back again?" He kind of snarled. He was not in a good mood. I still wanted to smile. Last time I laughed was when my step brother from my last family fell on the ice rink. He got up and said, "I fell on my booty." It made the whole family laugh. They never told me why they put me back in the orphanage. "I enrolled her into high school, she starts Monday and I can't leave her in the apartment." Michael sounded like he was pleading. "I guess it's fine, thanks for running by me first." Adam hung up after that. "I'm sorry about that." Michael apologized. "It's fine." I let out a little laugh. "I'll try to keep as much profanity away from you as possible, though, I can't help you in high school. So, I guess, good luck." He was about to laugh too. "Thanks." I look over and smile at him. He smiled back. "This weekend, I was thinking about taking you shopping. You can use anything in the bathroom except for the razor. That's just nasty. Also, help yourself to the pantry. Take as much of Barney's stuff as you want. This whole thing is his fault anyways. Not that you being here is a bad thing, I just wasn't ready. I'll stop talking now." His babbling made me laugh.
