Prolog;
Forgotten, everything. Love, loss, even manners. That's what the world has come to. But if you close your eyes, it all calms. Until the screams continue. But before that, everything stops, sound, noise, the impending feeling of death that comes with living in a place where I'm banned, where wolves are banned. Werewolves, normal wolves, even half breed dog-wolves. "A wolf is to be caught every night until they no longer are a threat to humanity." That is the one rule we are bound to follow. And by "until they are no longer a threat", they mean until we are all dead. Until they watch the life drain from the last wolf, after I have been discovered, until my mate is dead if he isn't already. Until my brother and any other possible living family member and/or pack member is dead. This is how my parents died, how I am doomed to die. Like prey, not the predator I am. But it won't happen that way. I am determined to win. To survive. With or without killing humans. They aren't humans, I remind myself, they no longer deserve to claim to have any humanity in them. No, they are no more human than I, they are monsters. The monsters who killed my parents.
