"Here goes nothing," I said. The pixels started to form a monster. They formed into a hellhound. It ran and jumped towards me. I slid underneath it and stabbed its stomach. The pixels scattered. Then they formed two dracanaes with swords. The first one charged. I blocked the blow and kicked it with the bottom of my foot (the pixels can touch the shoes, the people won't die). I saw the second dracanae charge towards me out of the corner of my eye. At the last second, I stepped out of the way and cut its head off with one clean swipe. The first dracanae tried to tackle me at the legs. I jumped up and stabbed down at it. The pixels scattered again and formed three empousai. They evilly smiled and started to breathe fire towards me. I ran backwards trying to stab them but I couldn't swipe at them or I would get singed to death. Eventually, I backed into the wall. The three empousai cornered me. I had one second to decide how to get out of this before I burned to death. I had to stab all three of them at once. I couldn't stab them one at a time or I'd get burned. An idea popped into my head. I jumped to the side, throwing my sword at the empousai on the end. My sword flew through all three of them. The pixels scattered and stayed on the floor.
I tiredly walked over to my sword to pick it up, my back to the pixels. I wasn't on guard cause I thought that it was over. That was a bad move. I saw a shadow creep over me as I picked up my sword. I turned around and saw an enormous, pixel cycolops. It roared and charged. I barley had enough time to jump out of the way. But I jumped in the wrong direction. I jumped into the cylinder rack and hit into it with a hard thud. I was going to get back up, but I couldn't. Something was restraining my leg. I looked down and saw my leg twisted in the rack. I tried to pull it out, but it wouldn't budge.
I started to panic even more when I realized I didn't have my sword. I saw it laying to side. It was out of my reach. I must have dropped it when I hit the rack, I thought. Right there I realized that this was it. This was how I was going to die. I didn't even make it to the trial. I hope Emily and Zach win. No Hayley, you are not dying after all that you have been through, my head said. Wait a minute, I'm surrounded by weapons...... and the gears in my head clicked.
The monster stomped over proudly. He loomed over me and said,"This is it, little mortal," the cyclops said.
"Oh no it isn't," I said. He started to laugh, and I grabbed a spear and threw it at him. It went right through his eye. The cyclops screamed in agony as the pixels fell to the ground and disappeared.
The doors cleared. I saw Emily and Zach smile. They ran to me and gave me a big hug.
"I thought you were dead after hearing what the monster said!" Emily said through tears.
"Yeah, don't ever do that again, Hayley! You scared me half to death!" Zach said crushing me.
"I'm sorry, guys. Can you help me get my leg out of the rack now?" I asked pointing to my leg. Emily untangled my leg, and Zach lifted me up onto my feet, flashing me a smile. Gods his smile was so cute.......... No, stop it Hayley! You don't have time for boys. Your life is on the line here! My head screamed at me. I snapped back into reality and walked out of the preparation room with Zach and Emily at my sides.
Kronos appeared in front of the doors after we were back in the crowd.
"As you can see, some did not make it out of this room alive. We started with 47 kids. We had 38 for preparation. Now there are 16 left. Congratulations to you who have survived. But it isn't over. Tomorrow is the trial. 1 out of 8 girls will survive, and 1 out of 8 boys will survive. It's all up to you. Now, as a treat before you die, I'm allowing you to do whatever you want. There is a huge table with a big feast set up in cafeteria. I transformed your beds to make them extra comfy and make you have good dreams if you want to sleep. Boys and girls can be in rooms together. I don't care. Just don't try to escape this, or I will kill you. Have fun, my instruments," Kronos said. And with that, he disappeared, leaving us to do whatever we want. But no matter what, 14 people will die tomorrow, and 2 people will come out of the arena alive. I hope the odds are in my favor.
