COLLATERAL DAMAGE
Madmen playing with their toys.
Build it up and then they destroy,
Just like little boys – just like little boys.
Destruction is what they seem to enjoy.Far away, hidden from their view,
Waiting for that government coup.
Madmen, pick their sides, watch the preview,
Is this game worth the sport of playing through?Little girl, with big brown eyes, looks back
Into the hearts of megalomaniacs,
Knowing - no redemption for the mercy they lack;
Scared and alone, waiting for drones to attack.Collateral damage, pawns in their war game.
Lives become points the victor can claim.
Innocent losses, without faces or names;
The cost of war when madmen take aim.Buildings explode and fall to the ground,
Deafened by that concussive echoing sound,
No one runs anymore, the targets are found.
Madmen fight from ivory towers, a safe surround.The game is over now and time to assess
Who are the victims, and victor's in this mess?
What is left here, what spoils will they possess?
Conscience of madmen repress and regress.The winner's have won nothing, no advantage -
Dead forgotten beneath the ruins and damage.
And, their souls become lost in that old adage –
"Wars cannot be won without collateral damage."M TERESA
