I opened my eyes slowly, not liking the light that was beaming down on me. I shut my eyes immediately, as a painful headache sunk in. The pounding took over my head, distracting me from every other sound. I could barely hear my thought. I laid still, enjoying the comfy bed I was laying on.
"Christ," I muttered, putting my hand to my head. "Hermione Granger got me good..."
Between the pounding, I could hear some movement making its way over to me. "Little bitch is gone now, so you don't have to worry." It was James.
"Where's Jay?"
The bed sunk next to me. "He's up in the attic, cooling down."
I scrunched up my face in confusion. "What's he cooling down for?"
"Hermione got him too," James let out a low chuckle. "Of course, he didn't get knocked out."
I scoffed, attempting to reopen my eyes. "Jay needs to understand that I can handle myself. If she hadn't knocked me out, I could of taken her."
James chuckled again. I opened my eyes completely and looked over at him. "What?" I grumbled. He laughed again, this time, a little harder.
"Hermione didn't have a wand. She had a fucking axe," James shook his head. "A weaponless girl versus an axe - doesn't make for a happy ending."
I rolled my eyes. "Please. Like this story has a happy ending. We're all going to starve to death or get killed by intruders."
James frowned. "Don't loose hope."
I shut my eyes and chuckled a little. "I lost hope, the day I fucking choked Danny McBride over a slice of cheese. We're all going to die."
From the corner of my eye, I saw James lay down next to me. It sent a wave of butterflies through my stomach but I ignored them and stared up at the ceiling.
Silence filled James's room. I could hear the slight movement of the other guys downstairs, as they tried to keep themselves occupied.
"Emma stole most of the rest of our food." James said suddenly. I kept staring at the ceiling. "We're fucked."
I let out a deep breath. "Fucking twat."
We lay there in silence with nothing but the sounds of our breathing between the two of us. My head still felt hazy.
"Jade," James spoke up. "Did you really see those blue lights?"
I turned my head and looked at him. He was staring up at the ceiling, his brown eyes didn't move, they focused on a spot on the ceiling.
"I did. They were the weirdest thing, like something straight out of a video game," I replied. "Why?"
I studied him. His face had lost a considerable amount of weight since the last time I really looked at him. From the little I knew about James before officially meeting him, he had always been on the skinner side, but this was a different kind of skinny. A sickly skinny, that also left a strange hue in his skin.
"I've been thinking about what you and Jay said," James said. "Some parts of the party are coming back to me."
I bit my lip. "Yeah?"
He still didn't stir. "Yeah, I think I could of seen the same thing, but I'm not so sure. It's still a little hazy."
"Why didn't you back us up then?"
James shrugged. "Like I said, that night is still a little hazy. My mind wasn't exactly in the right place; I was a bit crossfaded. Plus, my mind was more focused on something else."
"Oh?"
He turned his head and looked at me, his eyes traced my face, sending a chill up my back. "It doesn't matter though."
I gulped and frowned, feeling my nerves twist. He still stared at me with his shiny brown eyes. "Well, thank you."
We stared at each other for a little bit longer before James started moving closer to me. My heart started beating like crazy and goosebumps rose across my body. His eyes drifted away from my face down to my lips.
I licked my lips. His face was so close to me, I could feel his breath on my face. But I didn't move.
"You're still fucked up," I whispered. He chuckled.
"You could say that," James said as our faces grew closer.
I smiled as his lips touched mine, a fire erupted in my heart, that felt just as wicked as the fires that burned around our world.
