"Y/n, what are you doing here alone?" asked a familiar voice.

"Finny! I just, um, wanted to watch?" you replied, in a question-like tone. You were at one of the balls Elizabeth decided to throw. You hated her. A lot. For many reasons: her obsession with cuteness, her inability to understand suffering, and her unending cheerfulness. But one of the main reasons was her relationship with Ciel Phantomhive. You and Ciel had been together for a year when you found out about his engagement to Elizabeth. Of course, you were pissed, but you were willing to wait for him. However, this was too much. Recently, he had started talking to and interacting with Elizabeth more than you, even though he claimed he loved you. It made you feel like a ghost, always hovering at Ciel's side, but never noticed. He was currently dancing with Elizabeth, as he had been for the past hour or so. You had just sat down and sipped champagne, trying not to think too much about how you were going to break up with Ciel. You still loved him, but you couldn't deal with his shit anymore.

"You look great," said Finny, a slight blush on his face. You were in a long, backless dress with lace patterns that hugged your figure. You were wearing diamond earrings and a diamond necklace, and your hair was down, which was unusual for you.

"Thanks," you replied, taking another sip of the champagne.

"Do you want to dance?" asked Finny. "I mean, you look really bored so.."

"Sure," you said, accepting his hand. There was no point in saving yourself for Ciel when you knew that he didn't want you.

Finny led you onto the dance floor, a simple waltz playing. He was surprisingly good at dancing, and the two of you talked while dancing.

"So, how's your relationship with the Young Master?" he asked. All the servants, as well as Sebastian, knew about your intimacy with Ciel.

"Honestly? Not the best. I'm planning to break up with him," you said, looking down at the beautifully tiled floor.

"Why?" asked Finny, his turquoise eyes flooded with concern. All the servants expressed their support of your relationship, saying that Ciel needed someone like you to keep him grounded.

"Well, he likes Elizabeth, and I don't want to stop him from having a full relationship with her. Not that I've been making any difference lately," you said with a hollow laugh.

"Oh," said Finny, ashamed at asking such a question. "Sorry."

"It's fine," you said, laughing it off. You could feel someone's harsh gaze on you, and you turned your head to see Ciel watching you. You felt tears gather up in your eyes as you saw Elizabeth pressed against his chest.

"Hey, Finny, I'm going to go outside for a second. Fresh air. Be right back," you said, running out of the manor. You sat on a bench in the garden, finally free to release your tears.

"Y/n?" you heard someone say. You immediately wiped your tears, and turned around.

"Ciel?!" you exclaimed, surprised.

"Y/n, are you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his expression.

"Fine. Ciel, since you're here, I'm going to tell you this now: I'm going to break up with you," you said, the words tasting bitter in your mouth. It went against everything you wanted, but you couldn't hurt yourself like this any longer.

Ciel flinched back, as if you had slapped him. "What? Why?"

"Ciel, I can't do this. It's so obvious you love Elizabeth, and you haven't even talked to me in the past week."

"Y/n-"

"I just can't. Please don't make any excuses," you said, your voice cracking.

"Just hear me out, y/n," said Ciel, his eye pleading. You stayed silent, giving him a chance to speak. "We've been working on breaking off the engagement. I was with her this past week for the paperwork, and other crap. She was dancing with me today, because we probably won't see each other for a long time. I didn't know I was hurting you that much. I'm so sorry, y/n," said Ciel.

You were surprised at this display of emotion by the usually stoic Earl. "Ciel, I'm sorry. I just assumed, and I-" you cut yourself off, feeling tears forming.

Ciel sat next to you and pulled you close. "I love you, y/n. Don't doubt that even for a second."

"I love you too," you said, closing your eyes.
