I hear my math teacher mumble about some Pythagoras theorem while I dreamy look out the window imagining about Calaveras. I hear Mrs. Davidson clear her throat in attempts to catch my attention.
I can assure you that Mrs. Davidson hates me. She takes every opportunity to ask me difficult questions. Luckily my mum is a teacher and makes me and Mattew study A LOT. So we usually learn everything before everyone else does.
"Collin, can you tell us what the Pythagorean equation is?" She asks with a evil smirk on her face. "Ugh.. Um.. A square plus B square equals C square" I say a bit iffy. I get my confidence back when I see her smirk disappear. I secretly thank mum for teaching me this.
After three classes Kai drags me to the cafeteria. I order a small sandwich while Kai orders a giant hamburger with fries. "You ain't hungry?" He asks with his mouth full of fries. Kai has this weird accent to his English. I think it comes from his Asian dad. For being half Asian he is very tall, almost 6'1. Which he is incredibly proud of. He has dark brown hair that matches his dark brown eyes. "You know you ain't gotta be sad about Calaveras." Kai thinks that not applying to Calaveras is bold. But he doesn't understand the value of studying at Calaveras. He thinks Calaveras is some fancy school for geniuses. I haven't told him about magic yet. And I think he secretly wants me to stay even tho he'll never admit it. After waiting for Kai to finish his burger, we start to head out of the cafeteria. But Kai accidentally pushes his chair into the back of my knee. Which make me do a weird pirouette in the air before falling on top of Kai. Making Kai drop his plate with the half eaten burger and fries while we both fall towards the ground.
"Bakayaro! Furai o otoshitajian!" He screams covered in ketchup. "Stop talking Asian I don't understand" I scream back while trying to get the fries out of my hair. "Asian is not a language you idiot! Why am I even friends with you!" He screams as I start to laugh. I'm not the best in geography.
After school I text my mum saying that I'll be home late. I decided to practice on my magic today. There is this extra class at the local library for magicals who wants to improve their magic. I've been going there a while now and my magic has improved a bit.
Magic doesn't need any magic wand or stick. Whatever you call it. Magic is when you fill up a wish (as we call it) in your heart and then whisper it. Of course you can't wish for everything, like wishing someone to come back from the spiritual world is impossible. Sometimes there're magicals with heart conditions that affect their magic. The weird thing is that I don't have any problem with my heart but still have problem with my magic.
"Collin, take a deep breath. Fill your heart with your wish and now let it out"
