The next day after school, Lucy put on her black bat earrings, went out downstairs, and said, "Mom, I'm going to the cemetery with Rocky!"
Lincoln walked up from the couch, put his hand on Lucy's shoulder, and said, "Oh no, you don't!"
Lucy turned to Lincoln and asked, "What's wrong, Lincoln?"
"I don't think you should date Rocky. Otherwise, you'll also be getting a horrible brother-in-law who obviously doesn't understand how sensitive and insecure you are," Lincoln replied.
"Is this because of what Rusty said about me yesterday?" Lincoln nodded, and Lucy continued, "Lincoln, I'm totally over it!"
"I'm not taking any chances, Lucy! You are staying away from the Spokes family, and that's final!"
With this, Lucy angrily stormed up to her room, flopped onto her bed like a rag doll, grabbed her smartphone, and dialed Rocky's number. When she got an answer, she greeted, "Hey, Ghosty-Boo. I think we're gonna need a rain check on the cementery."
Rocky responded, "I already know, Black Cherry. Rusty won't let me hang with you anymore. He said it's because of a fight that he had with Lincoln yesterday. Speaking of which, you still feelin' bad about what Rusty said?"
"No, I'm over it. Anyway, can you believe that they're keeping us apart because of a fight that they had?"
"Yeah, that's a pretty stupid thing to do."
"I know, right? Either way, though, if we ever want to see each other again, we need to fix our brothers' friendship."
"How are we gonna do that?"
"Just follow my lead. I've got quite a few tricks up my gloves... and socks."
