Maddie's POV
I nervously glance around the hallway, looking at everyone who stood outside of their homeroom, either talking to someone else or at their locker. I keep my gaze down, not wanting to catch anyone's eye. I walk through the wood doorframe of Mr.Lukas' classroom, my boots making a small clap as they hit the white tile. I feel some eyes turn to me but I make a beeline for my seat. I sit down and put my head down on the cold surface and sigh.
" Hi Maddie," a voice fills my ears and I shoot up, looking around for who said that. I look at the desk next to me to see it occupied by Andrew. Sweet Andrew. The boy of every girl's dreams. I feel my lips form into a small smile, causing Andrew to smile his perfect smile. I feel the butterflies in my stomach pound against my rib cage, and a blush creeps onto my cheeks. I've had a few crushes since I moved here, but Andrew is special. He makes me feel like no one else does.
Andrew's POV
So far, so good. I keep repeating in my head, trying to keep the courage that I needed to keep talking to Maddie. She's so beautiful. Her dazzling blue eyes always has a glint of happiness that made everyone optimistic and cheery. Her long brown hair fell gracefully down her back and over her shoulders, sometimes covering part of her fair-skinned face when she looked down at the ground. I open my mouth to say more, but the homeroom bell rings and I get up from the seat I was sitting in, which happens to belong to Louis Austin, the cute guy of the class. He has bright blue eyes, almost as bright as Maddie's. His fashionably messy sandy blonde hair always has the girls wanting to run their hands through it. I trudge back to my seat, which is on the opposite side of the room from Maddie's seat. She sits all the way in the front desk in the last row. I sigh and slam my head down onto my cold desk, making my sweltering forehead cool down.
" Hi Andrew!" A squeaky voice makes me mentally groan as I lift my head up to meet the one and only Danielle Smith. She's always had a crush on me, but I've never liked her back. Don't get me wrong, she's beautiful. With her straight red hair and loving hazel eyes, she steals a lot of hearts. However, my father taught me to love a girl for who she is, not what she looks like. That is, before he left. Just in the middle of the night on September 15th of last year, he was gone. All his clothes were gone, and there was no indication on where he went. My mom and I got over him as the days, weeks, and months painfully passed by. We're both getting on very well now and at least we still have each other. Nobody else knows about my father's disappearance. Its my little secret.
