People come in flavors. That's what I think, anyway. My mom? She is definitely the flavor of mint-- brighter than the sun, and sharper than a knife.

"Off to school with you! And don't forget your lunch!"

My father, oh he reminds me of the creamiest, chocolatiest hot chocolate on a cool winter day-- perfectly sweet with a gentle warmth that fills the soul.

"Be careful down in the mines today, Dad."

"Of course, sweet pea. Now get off to school."

My name's Amy, and if I had a flavor, I think it would be something along the lines of lilac or pomegranate. It is extremely difficult to judge my own flavor.

"I'm just me I--- OOF!"

My slightly petite 16 year old body is forced backwards as I run into the equivalent of a wall.

"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING, YOU KLUTZ!"

"Sorry Ms. Hewitt! Here, let me pick up your things!"

Her monumental weight threw me off, which is why I floated backwards. I can't help but feel bad though, I knocked all her groceries into the air.

I live out in deep space, on a mining colony owned by Palomo Industries. It's a small community, but we're like family here. My family mines meridivm to send back to Earth. I've never actually been to Earth though, but my mother tells me that on Earth, the sky is blue, and the stars only come out at night.

I pick up Ms. Hewitt's groceries faster than I've ever cleaned anything up before. As I am handing them to her, I take a look at my watch. 7:14 AM.

Crap.

I'm going to be late for school again.
