"C'mon Lani, wake up." My dad, LaVar, said while he tried to shake me to wake up.
"Ugh, I don't want to." I groan into my pillow.
"Well you got to. You and your brothers have that interview with ESPN today. I don't want y'all to be late." He said as he walked out of my room.
I get out of bed and open the blinds to let the light in. As soon as I opened them I quickly shielded my eyes from the bright sun.
"Damn, it's bright as hell outside." I mutter to myself.
I walk into the bathroom, brush my teeth, and take a quick shower. When I'm done with my shower I go back into my room and put on my black and red Big Baller Brand sweatshirt with some black leggings and my black and red Air Jordan 12s. When I'm done getting dressed, I go downstairs to see what my mom is cooking for breakfast.
"Good morning mom." I walk up to her and give her a hug.
"Good morning honey." She gives me a kiss on my forehead.
"G'morning Lani." LaMelo called from the couch.
"Shut up." I said as I sat next to him.
"Why you mad?" LaMelo poked at me and laughed.
"Cause dad's tweaking." I yawn. "He's tripping over an interview that's not happening till about an hour from now ."
"Lani!" LiAngelo yelled from the top of the stairs. "Do you have my MacBook?"
My eyes get wide as I turn around to see if my mom heard him.
I walk towards the bottom of the staircase to answer him. "Yeah, just go in my room and it's on the dresser." I whisper yelled.
As I turned around to go back to the couch, my mom stood right in front of me.
"What happened to your laptop?" She cocked her eyebrow. "That was the second one I've gotten you this month."
"LaMelo happened." I said, putting up my hands in defense.
"LaMelo, what did you do to your sisters laptop?" My mom questioned, as she turned to face him.
"Lani such a liar. I ain't even do nothing to her stuff." LaMelo gave a dirty look.
"I need answers." My mom said impatiently.
"Melo sat on it and broke it." I said quickly, and giving him look to make sure he didn't say anything after that.
"That cause you fuckin' pushed me!" He pointed at me while looking at my mom.
"Lani." My mom sighed. "Just know that that's the last laptop you're going to get from me. If want a new one, you can go ask your dad." She turned around and went back into the kitchen, leaving me at the bottom of the stairs while LaMelo was staring angrily at me.
"But if I pushed Lani and she broke my shit, I would get in trouble." LaMelo muttered under his breath.
"I heard that." My mom said turning around with a knife in her hand.
I didn't want to go back to the living room with LaMelo, because I knew he was mad at me and, I wanted to give time to cool of before I tried talking to him again. I decided to go upstairs and see what LiAngelo and Lonzo were doing.
I checked inside LiAngelo's room and he wasn't in there I so I assumed he was in Lonzo's room with Lonzo.
"Hey bitches." I said in a fake white girl voice, as I walked into Lonzo's room.
Lonzo was laying down in his black full sized bed using his phone, while LiAngelo was sitting down on a chair near Lonzo's desk, also using his phone.
"Heeey girl." LiAngelo looked up from his phone and mimicked me, which made me laugh.
"Y'all ugly bro." Lonzo laughed.
I make my way to the window to watch the camera men set up their cameras for the interview that we had later today.
"How's your boyfriend Devin, doing?" LiAngelo smiled.
I instantly froze and my cheeks turned hot.
Devin, is my best friend that I met at a basketball camp when we were about five or six years old. I recently caught feelings for him and my brothers have seemed to notice.
"When did this happen?" Lonzo questioned.
"Lani's been had a lil boo thang since you left." LiAngelo laughed like it was funny.
"Gelo's a liar." I turned around. "He's always making stuff up to get me in trouble." I smiled, giving LiAngelo a playful shove.
"Oh, cause I was bout to say." Lonzo laughed. "You're not supposed to have boyfriend till you're married."
"Nigga!" I squinted at him.
After some time of just goofing off with my brothers my dad calls for us downstairs.
"Hey! Y'all come down here real quick!" My dad yells from downstairs.
"Oh my god." We all groan.
I know my dad was us calling downstairs so that we could mic'd up for the interview. My brothers and I are low key getting tired of the people that come by to our house to get some type of interview with us.
I make a quick stop to my room so I could put my phone down, then go downstairs to get my microphone hooked up.
I lifted up my shirt, exposing my flat stomach, so they could wrap a gray velcro strap around my waist.
"Jesus Christ Lani, go eat something." LaMelo sounded disgusted, but still laughed.
"Boy, I know you're not taking." I looked him up and down. "You're skinnier than me!"
"But you weigh less than me. So, how does that add up?"
Just as I was about to say something back to him I get interrupted by someone singing very, very terribly.
"But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark. You should know you're beautiful just the way you are." My dad sang at the top of his lungs.
"Hell nah." I covered my ears. "Dad, stop, you can't sing."
"Nah, Lani's just a hater." LaMelo said. "C'mon dad lets sing it."
"And you don't have to change a thing the world could change its heart. No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Oh, oh, oh
Oh-oh, oh, oh." They wrapped their arms around each other's shoulder, swaying side to side as they sang in screeching voices. The camera man quickly picked up his camera to get a clip of my dad and LaMelo singing.
