•Mythera's pov•
I crash through the front door of my house, seeing Brendan. He gives me a startled glance and I run upstairs. After storming into my room, I slam the door shut.
Plopping, face first onto my bed, I sob. Between sobs, I hear screaming and things slamming. "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!" Its Brendan's voice. I don't know he's was talking to, and I don't care. Tears blur my vision, further distorting my already ugly image in the mirror.
"I didn't do anything to her!" A second voice snaps. Travis? "That dick Kaden did."
An "oh" was said before silence broke out. My sobs had suddenly stopped as I heard someone coming up the stairs. They walked in my room, sitting on the bed beside me. It was Travis. He gave a small smile, "You alright?"
I sat up, keeping my puffy eyes on him. "..I've been better." I narrow my eyes.
"Myth.." Travis brings his hand to my hair, moving it behind my ear. "Don't listen to him."
"..why?" My voice cracks, "he's right.."
"What?!" Travis' eyes went wide. "He is not fucking right, Mythera!!"
"But he is!" I insisted, tears still streaming down my cheeks, "just look at me!"
"Myth," Travis murmurs, placing a hand on my shoulder, "I am looking at you."
I turn away. "Then you know he's right."
"I know he's a dick who didn't deserve a single second he got to spend with you," Travis corrects, using my chin to guide my head so that I'm facing him, "I know that you're smart and funny-"
"And fat," I interrupt.
He wipes a tear of my cheek with his thumb, "no. And beautiful."
I shake my head dejectedly, "you're just saying that because you're my friend."
Travis gets that mischievous smile that usually means I should run, "if I just thought of you as a friend, would I do this?"
I don't have time to question what 'this' is before Travis slips his hand behind my neck, and covers my lips with his. I give a gasp of surprise before I melt and forget everything else.
I forget about Kaden. I forget about the play. I forget about everything.
Nothing exists except for Travis and me.
...and Brendan.
My brother stands scowling in the doorway.
I break away from Travis, panting and smiling, just in time to see Brendan grab him by the collar.
"Nope," he grunts, dragging Travis of the bed, "not a chance."
"I'm going!" Travis protests, "I'm going! Fucking let go!"
"Oh you're going," Brendan agrees, hauling him from my room. I rush to my window, where I have a fairly good view of the front door, just in time to see Brendan literally throw Travis down the porch steps. I wait for him on my bed as I hear his footsteps approach my room again.
"What the hell, Brendan?" I ask once he's standing in the doorway, "not cool!"
"We need to talk," he says awkwardly , coming to sit beside me, "if your into guys now, there's some stuff you need to know...with mom gone, I guess i need to explain it."
"You're not..." I hiss, turning a bit red. It's bad enough getting 'the talk' from a parent, but from your brother?!
"When a guy and a girl like each other very much- or are very drunk- they sometimes will have these... urges." Brendan was red now too, "they might want to see or touch each other's-"
"BRENDAN!" I yell, "I'M SIXTEEN! I KNOW HOW IT WORKS! I had to take health class as a sophomore you know."
"Yeah," he shrugs, "but Otto is a useless teacher."
"You can say that again," I agree, "I have her for Bio this year."
"So, um. They might want to touch each other's-"
"We are not having this conversation!" I exclaim, shoving Brendan in the shoulder.
"Ok, ok," he nods, "I didn't want to anymore than you do."
"Good," I reply.
"Why were you crying?" Brendan questions, "if it's not Travis then why?"
"Kaden," I sigh.
"That's what he said," Brendan nods, "but I thought he was just making excuses."
"No," I mumble, "it's true."
"Guess I have to go kill Kaden then," he sighs.
"Don't do that," I mumble, "you'll get in trouble."
I could tell he was going to do something wether I asked him to or not, but he didn't seem in the mood to argue.
"What did Kaden say?" Brendan asks.
Not wanting to talk about it, I attempt to change the subject, "I saw you're in the musical. Why? I didn't think you like that stuff."
"I was in that emo band for awhile," he reminds, "and I wanted to keep an eye on you."
"You know you'll have to sing," I warn, "and kiss some girl named Kendra."
"Is she cute?" Brendan smirks.
I shrug, "I don't really know her but she's in my bio class and sort of seems like a know-it-all."
"I didn't ask if she was a know it all," he chuckles, "I asked if she was cute."
"I mean, I guess?" I reply, "don't know if you're into the nerdy look."
"I can work with that," Brendan laughs, "now what's this about singing?"
"It is a musical," I smirk, "there's singing. Duh. I think you even have solos."
"Well shit," he mutters, standing up, "to late to back out now I guess. Now, I have something to do."
I assume he's going to track down Kaden so I sigh, "don't get expelled."
"No promises," he calls from down the hall.
"I don't need two relatives in jail," I mutter but he was gone.
