Cautiously, Danny approached them. Slowly and quietly, they spoke. "Hello? Are.... Are you alright?" Expeditiously, they stood. Looking at them graciously yet crying mercilessly, they attempted to speak. "W-Who a-are you?" It was a rather deepish voice, they were male, and extremely recognizable to them. "T-Toby? Is that you?!" This immediately snatched their attention. "Danny? Danny!" It was him! Toby. Their best and, well only friend. He stepped back, "I... I've heard rumours......... A-Are they true?"
Danny nodded their head, expecting a 'freak' or 'weirdo' but.... what they did get was much, much nicer. Toby ran at them with great speed as the song ended, switching to 'LA Devotee - Panic! At the disco' and embracing them in the tightest hug comprehensible. "T-Toby.... you...you don't h-hate me?" Danny feebly asked whilst shaking like a beaten dog with its abuser looming over it. "No. Of course i don't. Why would i? You're exactly the same person now as you ever have been. It's only now that you've announced it, everyone thinks you've completely changed and are some kind of monster. But i know you're not and that... is why i'm out here as well, because my parents were saying some really mean things about you, and i stood up for you and cut them off stopping them from speaking, and look where i am because of that..." "T-Toby, i'm sorry you didn't have to do that. Especially not for someone as worthless as me, ill just go, its my fault you're here." Danny said as they turned to walk away. "I'm not finished." Toby announced, "It was the best decision I've ever made!" Embracing Danny tightly one more.
The black magic of Mulholland Drive
Swimming pools under desert skies
Drinking white wine in the blushing light
Just another LA Devotee
Sunsets on the evil eye
Invisible to the Hollywood shrine
Always on the hunt for a little more time
Just another LA Devotee
Just another, just another, uh oh
Just another, just another, uh oh
Just another, just another, uh oh
Just another LA Devotee
Danny heard the lyrics of 'LA Devotee' dying in to silence as Toby removed his arms from around their torso, then they heard crying, vicious sobbing and stuttering, it was only at that moment, they realized who it was.
It was them-self they could hear.
Toby was again swathed around them and then whispered kindly into their ear, "I accept you, even if nobody else in this disgustingly homophobic town does, because guess what...." Danny's eyes rose to meet Toby's for him to whisper "...one... you're my best friend and i know this will sound weird, but i really do sincerely love you.... and two..........i'm just like you, and only us two know."
Wow. This really hit home for Danny. They weren't alone and of all people, it was Toby that was the same. Their best friend, exactly the same as them, well almost anyway, he was the same as them in that way. Toby was well known and everyone liked him, so Danny wondered what everyone would think about him if they knew. That didn't matter though, not to Danny or to Toby, all that mattered was that them and Toby had both found out they weren't alone and that those two were more relatable and more similar to each other than they thought.
"What happened to the music?" Said a voice from behind, just as 'Get away with murder - Jeffree Star' entered the ears of the surrounding. It was frowned upon to even listen to this song, never-mind have it on your phone! All because Jeffree - the singer of the song - was gay. Toby looked to see who the voice belonged to, only to glance and see his own older brother, stood there staring them both down is disgust and with acid in his glare burning right through Toby's and Danny's souls like a hot knife in a bowl of ice-cream.
