I open my eyes looking up at a ceiling. I need to find my faimly. I sit up hooked up to a machine. It probably wasn't smart but I was just thinking about my family as I stood up. My ribs started to ache instantly but I ignore it as I run out. I look up my eyes adjusting to the sun. I try to look for someone and finally I see Kameron and Karson with some lady.
They spot me as they run up to me hugging me. The women walks up concerned. "You shouldn't be up, you should be lying down."
"I need some questions answered before I do. Where am I? Where's my husband? And why are we on a boat?
"Well, someone found you guys crashed, you guys were closer to our military medical supplies boat while we were passing. You wouldn't have made it to the hospital so they bought you abroad here."
I didn't know what to think. I just wanted to go home with my faimly.
"How long have I been out?"
"A couple days." The women says.
"And my husband? Where is he?"
I ask my children still clinging to my side. "Would you children like some ice cream?" The women asks. "Yes please!" Says Kameron and Karson. The women points in the direction of where to go and they run off racing. "Why did they have to leave?"
"Becuase I didn't want to break this news out in front the kids."
I knew what was coming next but I just couldn't believe it. The truth is it was inevitable. But I just couldn't except that. "What happened?" I ask my eyes filling with tears. "Well?"
"I'm sorry. There was nothing we could do. There was too much glass in his stomach and he just bled out. We tried to help him first, but he wouldn't let us. He kept saying to get you guys help first."
I collapse on the ground in fits of tears. There's no way this is happening. It has to be a dream. A horrible horrible dream. She apologizes again. But it doesn't matter, nothing she says can bring him back. I stop crying and stand up wiping my face. "Thank you for helping us. But when can we leave?"
"Well this ship is headed to Guatemala we can fly you out from there back home free of charge. I'll show you were you can clean up and get changed."
