The next day I wake up and sit In bed for awhile. Tears started filling my eyes. I covered my face with my hands and pulled myself together and got up. As I walked in the kitchen I saw Kameron and Karson sitting in the living room watching Tom and Jerry. "Hey guys."
"Hey mom."
I look on the cabinets and find some coffee and that's when I realized we don't have much of any food. "Hey Karson I'm going to the store, stay here and watch your sister please."
"No problem."
I walk out the door a little reluctant to leave. I walk up to the store. It was only a few blocks down. Walking in I see the news on TV and it's me and the kids when we got rescued. Was that only two days ago? I continued shopping and got some food for me to cool tonight. Hamburgers. I can't really recall the last time I've had one. I check out at the register and walk out the store. I'm just relieved that no one noticed who I was. I spoke too soon. When I walked up to the house there were news people everywhere wanting an interview. I saw my kids leaking through the window pointing for me to go through the back door. Luckily no one spotted me. When I got inside I put the items away and picked up the house phone to call Earl. He's with the police and told me to call if something happened like this. They don't want me to give out any information becuase they don't even have the whole story about all that happened. That's why we have to stay up here until we tell then everything. I wasn't ready when they first asked me and honestly I'm not sure when I will be, or the kids. "What's with all the reporters and stuff?"
"Kameron went outside to look around and then all of a sudden a women showed up and started asking questions and a whole bunch more showed up so I pulled her inside and next thing we know she's on the phone then all these people showed up."
"I didn't mean to. I just wanted to go outside."
"I know sweety it's alright. I called Earl and he will take care of this."
There's a knock on the door.
"That must be him." I open the door and he comes in and I see all the people surrounding him asking him all kinds of questions. "Man, it's bad out there."
"Yeah, so is there anything you can do?" I ask.
"Well this is state property so I'll check with the department and we can fine them money if they keep coming around and leave."
"We would appreciate that. Thanks Earl."
"Anything for faimly."
Earl is Pearson's brother. So whatever the loss I was feeling, he felt worse.
"Ok kids I got you two phones so we could keep in touch especially since you guys will be starting school next week."
"Do we have to?"
"Sadly yes. But I'm going to be there too. I talked to the school and they need a sports med. Person so I'll be at the highschool right across from the middle school."
"That's great." The kids said.
"I'm going to start dinner, I'll ask Earl to take you guys to go shopping for some clothes and whatever you need."
"Thanks mom." Says Karson
"You go ahead Karson. I'm going to talk to mom for a minute."
"What's wrong Kameron?"
"I'm nervous about going to school. What if they recognize who I am? And what if they keep asking questions about what happened?"
"Sweety, I get that you're nervous. I am too. But we have each other. You and Karson are going to be in the same classes so you'll have each other. Plus you'll have friends sooner than you know."
"You think so."
"I know so." I kiss her on the forehead. "Plus I bet there are alot of cute guys." I say shoving her shoulders and raising my eyebrows up and down. "Mom don't." She says shaking her head laughing. "Bye honey."
"Bye mom."
Earl pulls up in the driveway and I watch Karson and Kameron get in the car and drive off.
