Ashen, curved wings of darkness, horns that could impale even the thickest barrier, eyes that could see through his soul, a presence that could threaten the existence of this whole country.

Oh yeah, that was a demon.

Kidd could recognize that, he was staring right at the creature, but it was just- the chances of running into one like this, under these circumstances, was laughable, definitely ironic.

But the moment he opened the door and saw the source of the miasma, allowing the dark energy to twist its claws around him and just squeeze his soul out for all it was worth, it made his knees threaten to buckle again, but all be damned Kidd was gonna let the demon see that.

Even if it was injured.

Despite the way its wings curled up around its torso like a shield from his eyes, it did nothing to hide the widespread pool of black ink- at least that's what it looked like to the naked eye, but Kidd knew better, it was bleeding out all over the floor from an open wound.

However, somehow it still held that guise of total control, it might as well been in perfect health with how its aura still held strong under such a state.

Kidd fought against his itching lungs to take in haggard breaths of air, knowing that doing so would only make him choke on more miasma, and willed himself to stare the creature in the eye, only to lose his train of thought and let his eyes sear a trail over it's body.

The apprentice didn't really know what to expect when facing a demon, the texts only held outdated illustrations, and the churches just promoted them as animals, sometimes coming in the form of misshapen loved ones, and other times appearing as something from H. P. Lovecraft.

He didn't ever guess that one could look so beautifully human.

It's hair was the same shade as a cloudy midnight sky, and the skin looked tanned and sandy, painted with wavy runes that Kidd guessed told some story of its previous sins, not at all burnt by any hellfire or scarred from any previous battles, something that Kidd assumed meant that this one was still relatively young.

Remembering what he should have been looking at, Kidd trailed back to the eyes of the demon, and violently shivered as an agitated grey clashed with his standstill gold.

They were a threatening hue, though even as the miasma only seemed to be denser in this room, Kidd couldn't bring himself to be anymore anxious then he already was, in fact, if he wasn't mistaken, he was starting to get a bit emotionally tired with this.

Moving for the first time since he entered the room, Kidd rolled his stiff arm around, not liking the feeling of it seizing up while he was being an idiot.

The creature didn't jump at him, a tiny relief, though the action did cause his furred coat to slide off just slightly, perhaps it was a mistake to unbutton it, considering the demon just seemed to have grown more stiff.

Stiff- but definitely human.

So a demon could appear human, that was interesting, the more arrogant exorcists were always prattling on about how the supernatural could never perfectly copy the shape of man, of course yeah, no normal guy had horns and a tail, but he didn't need those removed to look any more gorgeous.

Gorgeous..? The miasma must be getting to him, Kidd grimaced at the thought of being possessed and took more shallow breaths.

As if the redhead did something to set him off, the creature emphasized his curled horns and rumbled a warning, with grace that he had no right to have whilst bleeding out like he was, his broad, leathery wings abruptly flapped once and spread out until the tips were brushing against the walls and ceiling, open to their full glory and giving Kidd a very fine view in doing so.
