Kidd didn't really know what to have been more surprised about, the fact that their little rebellion triggered a mass change within the supernatural community across the globe? Or how easy it was to get away with it?
They were the talk of the town, if the town was every supernatural creature that could speak or communicate.
Even beyond the supernatural, Kidd could catch regular civilians whispering to themselves out among the streets and shying away whenever he got close.
Seems he's found a reputation, and not quite a great one at that.
But Kidd didn't really care for how others thought of him- at least not anymore, and instead of letting it get to him he just shook it off.
Almost as easily as he shook off Akainu's forces.
When the head exorcist sent people to go pursue the two of them, Kidd thought it was hardly unexpected, not with what they did.
However, he wasn't expecting them to be so easily deterred by just a little miasma.
Kidd didn't appreciate being hunted down, it made it hard to relax, gave them both some anxiety at the back of their minds.
So when Law suggested to hide out in the Punk Hazard forest, despite the foul smell of lingering miasma permeating the air, the redhead didn't have any complaints.
The plan was just to lay low there until they came up with a plan of action, but then came the discovery that even though Akainu knew they were hiding there, for some reason the bastard was adamant on forbidding anyone else from following them.
Suspicious as fuck, but still advantageous to them.
Thus, after a civil chat with the local supernatural, these creepy, sinister woods, which were actually welcoming and pretty damn lush once you settled in, became their new headquarters.
So now the pair was not only relatively free from Akainu, but they found an excellent new home, everything should have been fine.
Should have been.. but not quite.
There was a strange tension in the air between them, Kidd almost wanted to blame the miasma, but for some reason he felt that it would just get worse by acknowledging it at all.
So now they were stuck, in this, shapeless, unspoken, bumbling dance that infuriated the both of them to move along to.
It was weird, ever since Kidd accepted Law's familiarity, there was this undeniable fondness growing for him as they spent more time together.
The raven was charming, flirtatious, respectable, and- and he was good to be around in general.
At first he couldn't have been more impatient for the organization's farce to end, they were just getting in the way with his.. his what?
All he could remember was the desire to just have Law to himself, without a care in the world.
Now he did have Law to himself, but now that they finally did have time to themselves, Kidd realized that he and Law never really spoke about the nature of their relationship.
They never talked about the late night conversations that lasted into the morning, the close proximity they kept for seemingly no reason at all, the drifting eyes at the dead of night.
What if.. what if Kidd confronted him about it, only to find it was all a misunderstanding? A trick in his head.
That thought was enough to keep him locked in this awkward loop, trapped wanting to face the truth, but too hesitant to actually do it.
