Everyone was silent, utterly stunned into a stupor.
Law though, felt the need to bat the redhead over the head with his wing, "what the hell was all that stereotypical nonsense earlier? 'Holding back your talents'? Gag" Kidd hissed in response, but not out of pain or any real annoyance.
"I was hot on anger, okay? Wasn't really paying attention to whatever was coming from my mouth.. fuck, did I really sound that cheesy..?" Covering his face with his hand, the apprentice repressed the urge to burst into flames of humiliation.
The raven, however, felt no empathy to his plight and hummed, ultimately pleased with this success in embarrassing the other, "oh no, it was much worse, almost wanted to drop into a portal and never look back"
Kidd groaned, "ugh, you're never gonna let this go.." Law just twisted his tail around in silence.
Peeking back at the crowd, Kidd remembered what they were doing initially and questioned whether to just walk away now or finish what he started, although he was tempted to just march out of that place and never look back, the looks on everyone's faces made staying more than worth it.
The high and mighty prisses in the crowd looked downright scandalized! That had to be the highlight of his life!
Elbowing the demon in the ribs, Kidd nodded to the rest of the crowd, watched the other realize it was time to get back to business, and sat back to admire the demon doing his work.
If there was anything Kidd knew for sure about Law, it was that the bastard could talk his way through anything if given the floor to do so.
Law walked down the rock until he was on the edge of tipping over the peak, standing upon it like a grand stage, and it only helped further drove all the spotlight onto him.
As he scanned through the crowd, in his mind, there was a part of him that understood why Kidd was so riled up, after having such a long time to attune to his soul, the raven came to understand that the redhead was all about making things 'his way' and oppression was a big trigger.
And right now, he was looking at the most oppression he's seen in a while.
"Well isn't this a sore sight?" There was a few flinching in the crowd, and Law suppressed the instinct to grin in mockery at the exorcists, especially after noticing that it was the apprentices that were gathering their wits first.
"I must agree with Kidd, it seems the exorcists have really downgraded in the years going by, although, with the talk most fae are spreading, I'm not that surprised.." meticulously scanning through the crowd, Law tried to pick out any movement besides the odd jerking of an arm, but found that most were shocked to.. well, shock.
Except- there was one fidget in the crowd, and like a starved predator Law's eyes zoomed in on the individual.
Guessing from the uniform, they were a chore boy, hardly trained too, but his aura was especially strong, a sign of true ironclad integrity.
The said boy instantly broke out into a cold sweat when their eyes met, but Law could applaud the other seeing that instead of flinching back, the boy steeled himself.
"All of you are hardly anything I'd call impressive, this courtyard is practically full of nothing but hot air, you have aura, but they're nothing but empty, hollow shells of what you ought to be, it's wounding to see" nobody dared speak up in defense of themselves, worthless.
"But you apprentices.. you're not quite like that" Law allowed a sultry smirk to persist for a moment or two, but soon returned to his airy, only slightly playful facade, "you all have the power to take the reins.. you just don't choose to, depending on the point of view, that might be even worse than these poor excuses of exorcists, all that talent going to waste, how selfish of all of you.."
