It hadn't been long since they died, and life was slowly turning back to normal, or at least as normal as it could be without Sibhae and Tyooba. Akidou was still not quite over the deaths, and felt uncharacteristically angry towards Vernin, their killer.

It was annoying that he could get away with the murder of two trolls, one close to both Sirius and Hikaya, the other close to goddamn Emydia. But no, Vernin got away with killing just because he "wasn't thinking rationally."

It really ticked Akidou off.

But what ticked Akidou off even more? The fact that when at least Hikaya and Emydia were gone, Vernin would trash-talk his victims. He'd say that good riddance Tyooba was gone. Good riddance that that Sirius's killer was gone.

How convenient was it that he never mentioned killing either of them.

Akidou tried to avoid the highblood so there wouldn't be any fighting, but eventually one thing led to another and now Akidou found himself alone. With Vernin.

This was uncomfortable, to say the least.

It was quiet for a bit, Akidou reading one of Hikaya's books and Vernin poking at a computer, likely chatting with the humans. Then Vernin stopped typing and spoke.

"God, I'm glad Tyooba is gone."

Akidou stopped reading.

"All he did was mess with the order of things. Made everything chaotic."

Akidou allowed himself a frown.

"He was such a cunt."

Akidou tried to stop himself from getting up, he really did. He just failed.

Vernin looked over at him curiously, as if he hadn't realized he wasn't alone.

"You just like the sound of your own voice," Akidou muttered. "Don't you?"

Vernin didn't appear to hear him.

Akidou frowned and made his way over to the higherblood, who crossed his arms.

Akidou glared at him. "You don't know what you're saying."

Vernin looked amused. "Oh, but I do! I'm the leader here and Tyooba was destroying my order."

"Who made you leader?" Akidou couldn't help the hostility creeping into his voice, either.

"Me," Vernin replied. "I did."

Akidou frowned again. "Hikaya's the leader."

"No she isn't."

"She's better than you!" Akidou snapped. "She doesn't go around shit-talking the people she killed! Actually, she never killed anyone! Unlike SOMEONE!"

Vernin stepped back a little, his expression of disgust. "How dare you yell at me! I was helping us! Tyooba ruined us, so I took care of that! Sibhae killed Si—" His voice cracked.

Akidou was pretty fucking angry by now. How could Vernin feel sorry for himself about losing Sirius when he had the blood of two trolls on his hands? That was the only reason Akidou had for what he did next.

He punched him. He punched Vernin square in the face.

Vernin doubled back, his hands clutching at his face. He groaned in pain, but his agonized expression changed to one of fury when he saw his purple blood on his fingers. He glared up at Akidou, then lunged at the tealblood.

Akidou didn't dodge in time, and got a faceful of Vernin's blind rage.

It all went downhill from there.

Akidou kicked, Vernin punched, Akidou bit, Vernin scratched. Screaming and hitting, bellowing threats, more screaming, more hitting. It was all one big painfest.

Then the painfest got worse. So much worse.

Vernin grabbed Akidou's metal arm, and squeezed and twisted it with all his strength. Akidou cried out, and collapsed the moment he was released. Vernin laughed and stepped over his opponent's body to the exit, only to find a very worried Hikaya.

"Oh boy," he muttered.

"Vernin!" Hikaya gasped. "AKIDOU!" She rushed to the broken tealblood's side. "Are you alright?" She whirled to demand what Vernin had done, then realized just how injured both trolls were.

She sighed and snapped her fingers. "Vernin, I want you in my room. Now." She watched, steely, as he ducked away through the door. "Akidou, can you walk?"

The tealblood struggled to his feet. "Yeah, I think so." He proceeded to fall on his face.

"Yeah, I don't think so," Hikaya said affectionately, helping him up and leading him off.

"Where are we going?" Akidou wondered.

"Teadus will take care of your arm," she said calmly.

"Okay," he said nervously.

After dropping Akidou off at the lab, Hikaya made her way to her room, mentally preparing herself for her interrogation with Vernin. When she got to her room, though, there were no purplebloods in sight.

She swore under her breath and darted off to look for him.
