"Seany, pretty please?" Ruth groveled helplessly at the taller boy, her expression scrunched into a pout. He responded to this by pulling his hat over his face and letting out a discontented groan. "I don't have time for reading," he muttered. Sean inched forward, hopping off the table he was sitting on, and getting right to his feet. Ruth gazed at him with longing eyes. "It'll be fun! We can cuddle!" She offered with a smile.

The much taller boy glanced at her, responding with an exasperated eye roll. "No, it won't." He sneezed, staring back at her fridgidly. Ruth did not like this. She stormed over to him, and grabbed his wrist, firmly holding on. "I'm forcing you!" She spoke in a shrill voice. Sean, annoyed and not in the mood to argue, decided to humor Ruth just this once. He relaxed his shoulders and let Ruth drag him along to her room. She climbed onto her bed, pulling him on as well.

He looked out the ajar door. "Isn't your brother some... boy freak?" Ruth responded to this with a puzzled look. She smiled awkwardly at him and laid down against a pillow. "I don't know. What's the worse that can happen? We're just going to read a book," she finally replied. Ruth got up, beginning to search the books on her shelf. Sean hugged his legs, watching her. "Choose something at least a tinge interesting." He grumbled. She looked over her shoulder at him, responding with a quick nod. She resumed searching almost immediately. After what seemed like a whole half an hour, Ruth climbed back onto the bed. "I got 'The Secret of the Old Clock'." Sean raised an eyebrow. "All that time on your shelf and you got a Nancy Drew book?"

She smiled at him. "I like Nancy Drew books." She paused and let a grin replace her soft smile. "Hat off, Sean," She demanded. He seemed offended at this request. "No way!" He protested. Simply, Ruth removed the hat from his head and placed it on the flood. "Was it that hard, Seany?" She asked in an endearing, motherly voice. Sean, hands on his head, scowled. "Yes!" He growled in reply. He pulled one hand off of his head, gritting his teeth as he took the book from Ruth.

"You need two hands to hold the book."

"Give me back my hat and I'll think about it."

She shook her head. "What's so horrible about your haircut?"

He narrowed his eyes and took his other hand off. Under that hat was a mere... anime style ahoge.

Ruth tried to contain herself by biting her lip. She let out a snicker and Sean glared. "I like it!" she claimed. "You laughed at it." He replied frigidly. "That's true. But I don't think it's that bad! You look kind of cute."

He squinted and clicked his tongue. "Let me just start reading." He sighed, opening the fragile paperback up. "Chapter one. The rescue." Ruth yawned, leaning her head on Sean's shoulder. "Go on," she encouraged.

"Nancy Drew, an attractive girl of eighteen, was driving home along a country road in her new, dark blue convertable." He sounded quite bored and uninterested. Ruth giggled at the attractive part. Sean rolled his eyes again, and reluctantly continued. "She had just delivered some legal papers for her father." He paused.

"This is the worst book ever."

Ruth frowned. "Seany, you're a detective too, right? Your name is even Sherlock!" He straightened at the mention of his birth name, but responded with the familiar cold edge in his voice. "This blonde doesn't really seem like a detective to me."

Ruth let out a fake offended gasp, lightly punching him in the arm. "Like your edgy black emo ahoge hair is any better!" He snorted. She grinned. Once again, she spoke in a voice dripping with affection and motherly care. "Please continue, Sean." He breathed a little sigh through his nose. "I suppose I can try."

She let out an angelic giggle, before wrapping her arms around Sean and leaning her head on his shoulder. She shut her eyes as he continued, but was awoken with the sudden stop in his reading and the sensation of arms around her. He had returned the hug, and was leaning his head on her's. "Your books are so stupid." He muttered. She nodded and spoke a quiet 'mhm'.

The two teenagers stayed wrapped in each other's embrace.
