When the car arrived the next morning, Daniel was honestly surprised to see it. Part of him was sure that Mac would back out and not allow the kids to see where he worked. He was expecting someone to cite national security and deny his request but still expect him to show up for work anyway. Whatever she was calling him in for must have been big if she was willing to allow two civilians clearance to enter the hub. When Daniel came out into the living room to leave, he emerged from the bedroom wearing black jeans with a navy blue t-shirt, and the same sneakers he had worn the day before. He knew the kids wouldn't be dressing up and he was correct. Stephen was wearing shorts and Pokémon t-shirt while Emma had jeans and a shirt that was more appropriate for the work place. When Stephen saw his uncle finally come out, he seemed excited.

"Where are we going today?" he asked.

"We're going to see where Uncle Daniel works," Emma replied, "Which will probably very boring."

"There are many things people call my place of work," Daniel said, walking closer to them at the door. "Boring is not one of them. You'll find something cool to do when you're there. Thankfully you can't hear what's being said in my boss' office or you'd hear a lot of bad language."

"Are you in trouble?" Emma asked.

"Kind of," Daniel answered, "I've been taking some time off since you guys got here. My boss doesn't like it when people take time off without giving notice."

     "Even for bereavement?" Emma countered.

Daniel gazed at her with a stern look on his face. "I've got a feeling you're going to make an exceptional lawyer when you grow up."

     "Whatever," Emma replied.

"Let's get going," Daniel replied, "Our ride is here."

     "What about breakfast?" Stephen asked.

"We'll eat at work," Daniel replied, "We have a kitchen with a personal chef, so you can order whatever you like. I recommend the omelet as no one makes one better than Pierre."

"Wow!" Stephen said, eyes wide like saucers, "That is so cool!"

"Indeed," Daniel said, opening the door, "Let's go."

As they strolled out to the car that was waiting for them, Daniel walked up to the window and gestured for them to roll it down. Once the window was down the man in the front seats, both in dark suits and sun glasses looked over at him.

"It's a nice day for a round of golf, isn't it?" Daniel asked.

"Not really," the man in the passenger seat replied, "Looks like there's going to be rain later so let's get to work instead."

"Fair enough," Daniel said, opening the back door for the kids, "Let's get going everyone."

The ride was slow since it was morning rush hour, but the kids were still quiet passengers. Emma was attacking social media as if her life depended on it while Stephen asked a few questions, but Daniel was mum about work as he wanted it to be a surprise. That and he was pretty sure Emma wouldn't believe a single word about what he did without proof, so it was better to show the proof first rather than try to explain it and fight over semantics. When they arrived at the building, Daniel took a deep breath before stepping out and opening the door for the kids. The building they parking in front of didn't look out of the ordinary and that was its purpose. It wasn't an agency that liked to advertise and kept things on the down low. While security looked minimal as they strolled into the lobby, there were a few armed guards as well as a dozen cameras monitoring the area at all times. There were three elevators at the end of the lobby, but the one in the middle required a hand scan to open the door. Daniel put his hand on the scanner and seconds later the door opened for him.
