Leaving

It's been nearly a week since Gary seen Robbie in that state. Drinking himself into oblivion was blocking everything out for Robbie but it stopped them being together....

"Dad, were are you going?" Daniel asked Gary as he seen him pack a suitcase "to be honest mate I dunno. Me and your mum have split" Gary said as he got stuff out of the draws "what for real? Can't you work through it come on dad please" Daniel begged and stood in front of Gary stopping him from packing "look I never meant what I said last week all the nasty stuff I don't hate you I'm just hurt, is that what's making you leave have I done this?" Daniel asked getting upset, Gary held his face in his hands looking at what will always be his baby boy "you could never make me leave! I'm doing this for everyone it's for the best if I leave" Gary said as a tear threatens to fall as he rested his forehead on Daniels "best for you or for us" Daniel asked now crying "come on lad don't cry please I can't handle that right now, you've become such a great young man men don't cry!" Gary said wiping Daniels tears, Daniel gripped onto the front of Gary's top refusing to let him go "don't do this dad! We need you" "daddddd" a little voice said wondering in god not now Gary thought "hello princess" he said turning around making Daniel lose his grip on him "are we going on holiday?" His daughter asked and Gary looked at his case and knew she must of thought they were all going "no sweetheart" Gary said bending down to her height "come here" he said opening his arms and daisy walked towards him putting her arms around his neck as he put his large hands on her small waist "dad has to go away for a bit" he explained "what like work?" "Yea something like that darlin" Gary said and smiled sadly "when will you be back" daisy asked playing with his beard, Gary just loved it, it's something daisy always does "i..I don't know daisy" he said looking at the ground "come on sis go play with emily" Daniel said "she's got ice cream" he added "I love you dad come back quick" daisy said before running off "I love you too" Gary whispered as his hand was in front of him from when daisy ran out of them....

....he stood back up to face his son who's bottom lip was quivering "listen to me Daniel I mean it" he started looking straight in his eye "this family, it's everything to me but me and your mum can't be together anymore she cheated.." "so did you" "I was getting to that lad, me and rob it's like...I can't even explain it, you need to protect this family like your life depends on it you get me? I may be gone but I'm always here don't forget that, I know you hate me and that I can never fix this" Gary said stopping to breathe so Daniel took his chance "but you can fix this! What about everything we've done together, going to watch Liverpool, taking me on sound checks going on family holidays, all the laughing we've done all the times you let me play your precious piano" Daniel said getting more upset as he went on, he felt like he was losing everything he didn't want Gary to leave "I don't hate you for god sake! I love you you're my hero" Daniel said and sat on the edge of the bed making Gary speechless he put his hands over his face and looked to the sky "I give up, you walking out mum never being here anymore I give up I've tried to fix it" Daniel said with raw emotion in his voice "don't you ever give up! You hear me Daniel?" Gary said snapping his head to look at him "why you have!" Daniel fought back and he's right Gary has given up "if this is the last thing I ever say to you then please listen okay? Don't you ever give up on anything no matter what you do or where you go don't give up there's no point in giving up" Gary said putting his jacket on and found his car keys, picked up his suit case and Gary got crushed against the door when Daniel charged towards him hugging him tightly, he dropped his case and held his son close, one arm around his back on hand holing the back of his head "I mean it dan, don't ever give up" Gary whispered and kissed his cheek and picked up his case again, he went to walk out but Daniel held his arm Gary looked at his arm and he felt his heart being crushed "Daniel let me go" Gary said looking at him with sorry eyes "if I do then you're gone for good" Daniel said gripping tighter "I'll always be your father your dad I'm always here, let me go" Gary said again so Daniel did and watched his dad walk out for the last time
