The day was like any other day, talking, shopping, swimming.
"You've had your whole life waiting for you."
I've been with Halley. We had planned so much.
A warm summer day ideal for swimming rather than drinking later.
"I trust you're taking something from it. You freak delinquent."
I thought we'd go shopping before.
Although we didn't really shop, we always went together.
"You are fortunate that they're not suing and called us."
It was just a pair of sunglasses that no one would miss?
And only a few hundred dollars worth of clothes from previous "shopping trips."
"Whatever I don't have time to deal with you. I'm just going to get it from your friend," laughed the police, walking over to Halley.
I screamed at the older girl, as she sat crying in a chair. "Why don't you tell them that bitch?" I spat at her.
"Use that language in here one more time," the officer warned me, holding up his pointer finger.
I roll my eyes.
Sitting at the back of the car. My parents sat in the front shouting at me.
Oh, they never did that, they never thought of doing something so sinful in their minds.
If only the shit didn't say that.
Upstairs, I slammed my door, "you better go to school!" my parents stayed up the night arguing. All they care about is their representative and perfect little boys.
The next day, nobody talked to me, not even the cat. My mother passed the lunch boxes and gave me a paper bag with half a sandwich.
Think about it, what happens next- hurts.
"Bastered." I said, Halley passing by.
I sat on the middle school bus in my seat, I just had a few seats back from her.
Natalie sat across me, integrating me.
"Fuck off."
I felt her icy hand stinging my face. All of a sudden, the bus appeared like an arena and I fought a lion. The adrenaline pumped into my veins and I was pulled out.
Natalie grabbed her eye on the walkway
. Both Natalie and I were kicked off the bus for the rest of the year.
Halley got no punishment.
The news spread around the school like a wild fire that day.
"You're fat, thief, poor Halley, I knew you were trouble."
"Kill yourself."
I went home, every word said stung to me. Why she's always the victim.
I locked the door to the bathroom. Each tear that dropped my face reminded me of those people.
I tried
The pills swallowed made me puke.
I heard my mom unlock the door. She came running in, holding my shoulders, screaming at me to spit them out.
Nobody was there, I opened my eyes, I sat up from my vomit puddle.
She never came, nobody did.
I moved in with my grandparents and tried to forget.
Nobody called or even wrote.
I wonder if she's forgiven me?
I've been the victim.
If only I didn't.
