All Lies

Mistaken for a great Lord in vain,

When his heart's been dying in pain.

My darling, my dear, what you really hear--

Is the sound of a great man's fall

Drowned in the sorrows of his rain.

Mistaken for a great Queen in ignorance,

When she's been ill, for ten years since.

My prince, my son, my naive little one--

That's the darknes rolling in after

An evil burden awakening your sense.

Mistaken for a peasant with misty eyes;

Really, she was a sinner in disguise.

My brother, my sister, my baby, you see?

It was a trick they all played,

It was a truth we thought were all lies.
