     Something happened.
I know it.

I scented something familiar back at the cave, and it all came back to me. Just something seemed... fuzzy.

I cannot remember exactly what happened, but...

Something happened. And I need to find Apollo, or at least one of the others. They can explain what happened.

I caught Apollo's scent and followed, keeping at a steady jog, even breaking into a run at times. Nova kept behind me, silent. She seemed like the type who had a lot of endurance, so I did not worry about her much. I found myself mumbling Apollo's name again and again, reminding myself of the task at hand. I occasionally lifted my nose to catch the scent again, since we were unluckily upwind and it was rather faint. He was there maybe twelve hours ago, at best. It may not be the best method to scent the wind, but I hated trying to track scent through the grass. There were too many mixed smells.

Eventually, I noticed Nova was lagging behind. A flare of annoyance bloomed in my chest, but a small blanket of concern snuffed it out. I did not want to hurt her, honestly she was really nice. Not exactly my style, kinda awkward, but I kind of felt protective over her. She is like my late baby sea serpent. Shy and cowardly, but also had an air of mystery to her. Nova was just a little... out of place, the way she was all too hesitant to exit the cave. She seemed like she had no idea where she was going, and her tattoos were not what I had seen in the Galaxy Journey on humans... if the thing was accurate. I was not going to grill her about it, though.

While I was thinking, Nova ran in front of me.

Can-" She took a deep breath. "Can we take a break? I thought the whole point of this was to find water. Which I'm losing an awful lot of and not gaining any." Wincing, I involuntarily grimaced, but caught it and tried to disguise it as some sort of messed up smile.

"You seemed like a person with more stamina than me." I shrugged to emphasize my point. "I guess I was wrong."

"I-I just need water. I can't run on pure light alone. And everything that I've eaten in the past day or so has been ejected. Can we just take a break?" She asked, biting her lip sheepishly

"Fine." I growled, trying to suppress my disappointment. "I guess I should sleep."

"Thank Ejl! I won't have to listen to you mumble on about apples anymore!" She laughed airily and plopped onto the forest floor.

"Apples?" I asked, leaning against the tree. "What are apples?" And then my eyes closed, and I drifted into unconsciousness.

I woke up to a familiar scent, and it hit me. Apollo. He was much closer than before.

Maybe he was looking for my scent?

I sniffed the air again.

He was definitely closer.

"Nova! NOVA!" I yelled, shaking. The other girl jumped and turned, as pale as a ghost.

"S-sorry Nova. But Apollo! I mean- my friend, I lost him and he can explain..!" I was yelling now. The poor girl looked endlessly confused, and really scared. I took a deep breath to calm down, and some color returned to Nova's face. I tried to talk again, but I had no idea how to explain it to a human. They might freak out.

"Okay.. so I know where my friend is and I need to see him. It is... endlessly important. Please... just..." I trailed off, hating the desperate note in my voice, but I could not help it.

Nova's eyes softened, and she nodded. Without another word, I bounded into the underbrush, running full speed towards Apollo's scent.

Crash!

Bad idea. Really bad idea. Do not sprint into your friends, kids. It hurts. Even with the reinforced skeleton the Deimolupians have, it really, really did a number on me.

Apollo and I were now both on the floor, rubbing our foreheads.

"Ow!" I yelled, quickly taking the force off of the large red mark, probably soon to be a bruise, at the right side of my forehead.

"Oh my Lupus, Elara!" Apollo.

"Elara..? Is this the apple guy?" Nova asked, her dark skin contrasting against the pale bushes, giving her the Royal Most Obvious Hiding Spot. Her ice eyes surveyed him, and her stance looked as if she was about to run. I held up one finger, wincing, then spoke.

"Okay! This is Apollo, he's my friend and Apollo this is Nova, also my friend." I introduced. Nova looked nervous and wide eyed. She whispered something quickly before returning her attention to the annoyed Apollo.

"Listen, Elara, never run off agai-" I interrupted him.

"What happened? Why are we here? Where are the others?" I asked a googolplex of questions, probably annoying him.

I looked up. Yep. He looked pissed. Not too pissed, just enough for me to shift from Gamma stance to Passive Omega stance. I was an Omega, after all. His brow creased, dominance and Alpha aura seeming overpowering. My passive Omega stance had that affect. He cannot directly focus on me, it just worked that way. It was one of the perks of being low-class. No one can focus on me directly, preventing me from being read.

A small look of comprehension flashed across his face.

"Oh-" He realized what he was saying and quickly shut his mouth.

"Elara, this is not a matter for others to discuss. It's- just trust me on this one." He offered a weak smile, leaving my curiosity ever-growing.

"Fine." I shifted into submissive Omega stance, staying in my place in the presence of such a high rank. He was in Alpha stance, probably unconsciously, but it made me feel small.

Poor Nova was practically terrified, her one foot turned to run but her other planted in place, trembling.

"Yo, Mr. Alpha, you're scaring Little Lamb here." I joked, cracking a crooked smile. He relaxed his pose and Nova calmed slightly. His obvious Alpha rank still dominated over me, a weak Omega. I was practically cowering.

I then realized how thirsty I was.

Apparently it is not a good thing to go 24 hours without food or drink.

My stomach made that highly embarrassing whale noise, and I could feel myself growing red with embarrassment.

"S-Sorry Alph-Apollo..." I stuttered. Dang, how was I supposed know being just next to an Alpha made you want to hide in a hole?
He rubbed the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb.

"Try to call me Apollo, please?" He asked. I nodded.

Nova was pretty confused. I could tell from the look on her face that she was just not able to wrap her head around some of the things Apollo had said.

"I know where a town is, and if you want food then lets go." He stated, going back to his 'sarcastic rude teenager' mode. He dramatically turned and walked off, and I motioned Nova to follow along.

She looked like she was actually debating to get food or not. I can tell where she is coming from-

"It's okay. Apollo is a good guy, Nova. We can go." I whispered, and Nova nodded.

Okay.

We found Apollo, and he has to explain now.

And we finally get food!

A/N
