Chapter 22 (Sophia's POV):
"Come on, let's go inside." Nathan gently suggested after we gotten out of the car. I was frozen in my place, looking at the garage door. Although Collin wasn't right there, his spirit haunted me.
"Sophia. Come on." Nathan said, getting in my path of the garage, forcing me to tear my eyes away. I looked into Nathan's eyes and sighed.
"Okay." I muttered, trudging towards the front door. I dug around in my purse for my keys and unlocked the front door. Nathan and I stepped inside and immediately shut and locked the door behind us.
Gerard and Chase had stayed behind to hand over the cameras and surveillance tapes once we left. We were hoping that they would be let off the hook since they basically helped solve a cold case murder, but we wouldn't find out until later when they came over.
"Take everything, just in case you stay over longer than planned." Nathan suggested once we got inside. I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to him, nodding.
I ran upstairs and got three suitcases out of my closet that I usually used for vacations. With one swipe of my hand, I carried all of my shirts and pants off of the rack and placed them in the first suitcase, hangers and all. It was about 15 shirts, 12 pairs of pants, and some sweatpants. I then cleaned out my drawer full of undershirts, bras, and underwear. There was barely any room left, so I managed to squeeze in a pair of flip flops and my pair of Chuck Taylor's high tops.
In my second suitcase, I packed all of my electronics and miscellaneous stuff I wanted: my laptop, chargers, books, pictures, and CDs. I also placed a bathroom bag inside, full of a small palette of eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, my straightener, shampoo and conditioner, body wash, face wash, my hair drier, perfume, lotion, and some pads.
I zipped up my last bag and realized I didn't need a third suitcase. I placed it back in my closet and grabbed my pillow off of my bed before taking everything downstairs.
Nathan was waiting at the bottom of the staircase, but he ran up the stairs and took my bags from me once I was in view.
"Uh, I was managing perfectly fine." I said, looking at him. He shrugged.
"And now you're much better, aren't you." he replied with a smile. I playfully rolled my eyes and grabbed my purse from the front hook and we left my house.
Nathan carried my bags to his car and placed them in the trunk. "Nathan, why are we taking your car when you live-"
"Just get in, Soph." he interrupted, already in the car. I raised an eyebrow, but got in anyways.
Nathan turned to me with a glum look on his face. "Now I know you've been through a lot tonight, but we have to make this trip back to my house so you can be safe. I don't know how long exactly it'll take, but it'll be a long trip." he said, trying to hold back a smile.
He reversed the car and backed out of my driveway. Putting it into drive, he drove forward all ten feet to pull into his driveway.
Once he shut off the car, he got out. "Holy shit I didn't think I would make that trip."
I smiled, unable to control it. I decided to play along. "Oh, I know what you mean. That's the longest car ride I've ever been on."
He laughed and shook his head while taking my bags out of the trunk. He walked up the sidewalk to his front door and pushed it open, stepping aside so I could walk in first.
I smiled slightly as I entered his house. I loved being here; good memories filled this house, especially ones with Gerard and Chase.
"I'll show you to your room." he said, shutting the door and starting up the stairs. I followed him as we reached the top and rounded a corner.
