Dan isn't the best person when it comes to talking to people, his anxiety would usually get the better of him and he would run the other way, but with Phil it was different. He wanted to talk to him so bad but he just couldn't bring himself up to start a conversation. It was mostly silent, which made Dan slightly awkward but what could he do? He was a naturally awkward kid.
"So Dan, have you got yourself a girlfriend?" Phil began trying to start conversation. Dan's eyes shot wide open, his chest became heavy and he felt like crying. He was wondering if he should tell that he was gay or not. He didn't know if Phil was homophobic or not so he decided it would be safer if he just gave him a "yes or no" answer
"Oh uhm, no I don't. Girls really don't fancy people like me." He nervously chuckled and scratched the back of his neck. "Plus I'm kinda..." his voice trailed
"Gay?" Phil finished for him with a smile.
"Wait, you don't care?"
"Dude, I think it's awesome that you would tell me when we just met a few hours ago!" Phil reassured the boy. "Anyways, you see this house up here?" He began, point at a small baby blue two story house. Dan nodded. "Well, that's my house, it's nothing much but it's still home!" They both let out a small laugh, Dan couldn't wait to get out of the car to escape the awkward small talk they were having. He thought that it would be less awkward when they got in the house.
Phil pulled up in front of the house and pulled the out the keys. He swiftly got out of the car, Dan following soon after. The both met by the passenger door where they gave each other a brief glance before walking through the yard leading up to the front door.
"Hey Phil?" Dan began as Phil fiddled with the seeming endless amount of keys.
"Yeah?"
"Since I've told you about me, don't you think it's only far that you tell me about yourself?"
"Well obviously," He said, opening the door "My room is in the basement so we can yell as loud as we want."
"Why would we-" Dan was confused and quite frankly, a little scared.
"Because of video games you derp!" Phil jokes causing Dan's face had turned a slight shade of pink from embarrassment. Phil lead Dan a bit further into the house and opened the door that lead to the basement.
The basement was set up quite nicely. There was a black leather couch that went across the entire wall, sitting in front of a projector screen. On the opposite side of the room was Phil's "bedroom" which contained a twin bed covered with a brightly colored duvet and two pillow of the same pattern. Next to that was a bedside table with a digital clock rested on top. A large wardrobe and mirror were located across from the bed, and finally his own bathroom in the far left corner in the room.
"Wow Phil, this is bigger than my entire house!" Dan joked, Phil turning to face him laughing along with him.
"Thanks." The elder boy chuckled, and began to walk over to the couch.
"So Phil, tell me about yourself." he followed behind Phil, they both plopped themselves into the couch, Dan sinking half way in it.
"Well my life isn't that interesting, I have a loving family, an annoying younger brother and our family dog," He began, "I love anime, Muse, and Buffy the Vampire. Call me a weeb if you want, I'm not stopping you." They both laughed. Dan realized that he had more in common with Phil than he had ever thought.
"Really? I love anime and Muse too, wow I never would have imagined that you liked those things."
"Well the more you know huh? So you wanna maybe start a series together? I think it'd be fun!"
