“What the hell are you doing?” Kuai asked his brother. Kato, obviously wasn’t listening- he just kept me close, his mouth set firmly on the top of my head, “What is wrong with you?”

My eyes widened quickly; I was sure he just licked my forehead. I could barely breathe, and he still squeezed me tighter.

“Stop it! You’re killing her!” Kuai shouted as he reached for me.

“What’s it to you?” Kato growled through his teeth, holding me tighter. I was surprised he wasn’t crushing himself yet, “Do you, care about her?”

“Well… yes,” Kuai replied back. I figured it was kind of obvious that he cared about me; why else would he have taken care of me after what his brother did to me?

‘Well, stop!” Kato yelled back. His bony white fingers scraped against my scalp, painfully grabbing my hair. My voice made a high squeaking noise, and he dug his nails into my skin, “She’s mine!”

‘Mine? MINE?’ I thought. what does he want me for? His sharp fingernails dug deeper into my skin. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes, yet I forced them to stay there. They wouldn’t stay for long, though, and the large drops slowly began to flow down my face- then probably onto his shirt.

He clenched onto me tighter. “And you’d better stay away from her!” he shouted at Kuai and took his fingers away from my skin, which were now covered in blood, and brought them up to his. I managed to push myself away slightly, and saw him licking the blood off. Kuai looked disgusted and set his hand on my shoulder. That very moment, Kato immediately let go of me, grabbed Kuai’s wrist, and quickly flipped him. When he placed his foot on his twin, I took advantage of the opportunity and made my escape through the door.

Adrenaline pulsed through my veins as I sprinted down the hall. I couldn’t stop thinking about Kato and what had happened the other night. I couldn’t keep my mind off of what he might be doing right now. Before I could react otherwise, I slammed right into a brick wall, just beside the elevator. I was hopelessly lot, but at that point, I really didn’t care, and I ran right into the elevator. Just as the doors were closing, I could just faintly hear him yelling, probably running after me. For me, this was the warning to push a button- any button. Any one at all that would get me away from him.

When the elevator started, I noticed a young girl at the very corner. She looked very much like him, her hair a little longer, reaching about mid-back, slightly shorter than Avis- maybe 4’’1.

“Hello,” I said to her softly, trying not to let my panic show, “What are you doing?”

She didn’t move, didn’t speak; she just stood there. “Is there something wrong?” I asked her. She still didn’t show any signs of life. I was confused- was she asleep? No, her eyes were open… could she have been unconscious? She was standing, so that obviously wasn’t it either.

When the doors finally opened, she quietly whispered something, “Run,” her voice was soft, and kind of creepy. I looked out the door, and there was the lobby of the school.

“Thanks,” I said back to her. When I turned around, she was gone. Where did she go? Well, I guess it didn’t matter anyhow, and I just bolted through the room and out the doors. I felt exhausted- I just couldn’t run anymore, and I collapsed to the ground. Just moments before I blacked out, I saw him walk up to me, and then softly kissed my cheek.

“Are you alright?” Kami asked, peering down at me. Her long red hair sat lightly on my face, tickling my skin.

“Pfft!” I spit out any of her hair that somehow, made its way into my mouth. “Yeah… I think so,” I told her, “What happened?”

Adri came up to where I was lying, “You fainted pretty damn hard…” she leaned in a little bit, “You were out for almost an hour…”

“Oh…” I moaned, “Wait, what happened to Kuai? Is he okay?”

Just then, Kuai came up to me, and moved his face close to my ear, “You might want to start checking your arms for small marks…” he lightly pressed his two fingers against my forearm.

“What do you mean?” I asked him and my eyes moved to where his fingers touched my arm.

“This,” he said as he gently removed his two fingers, revealing a few small holes close to my wrist. I quickly sat up, wrapping my other hand around the flawed patch of skin.

“He did it again!” I whispered frantically to myself.

Adri and Kami both looked a little uneasy. “I’m just gonna’… y’know, go, now…” Adri muttered and began to back out slowly, reaching the door before she turned around and walked away.

Kami looked at me, her worried puppy eyes catching my attention. “Maybe I should… um… go too…” she said, and then followed Adri out of the room.

I looked up at Kuai, and he looked back down at me. “What does he want from me?” I asked. My eyes became teary.

“I’m not quite sure…” he sighed and gently stroked the back of his hand across my cheek.

“Can’t you go ask him?” I asked. He sat down beside where I was laying.

“And why can’t you?” he asked in reply. This frustrated me.

“And risk another attack like that?” I sat up, my elbows supporting me, “I don’t think so!” I told him firmly. He just sighed again, lace the same two fingers on my sternum; as he did on my arm, and slowly nudged me back down.

“Yeah…” a suppressed laugh somewhat-surfaced, “And like he’s going to listen to me? He already hates me.”

I had had enough of this argument and I forced my way up. “Fine!” I exclaimed, “Where is he?”

“He’s outside…” Kuai looked down, “…Somewhere… he said he went out for a smoke, or something…”

I rolled my eyes back in frustration, “Of course he is…” I momentarily, threw my hands up in the air before grabbing my coat and stormed towards the door.

Just as my fingertips rested on the door handle, a faint voice spoke softly, “Be careful out there,” he said to me and shot a friendly smile at me as I turned the handle and walked out, closing the door behind me.
