We sit in this field, a field that's seen so much, yet so little. The grass tickles my ankles and I feel Dean's lips sparking against mine. Dean, the boy who I barely know, Dean, this boy who knows where I'm coming from. Dean, this British boy with the best laced accent, the boy girls chase for a chance at a date. I smile into the kiss, but then it hits me.
What now?
What's next? Was this a date? My thoughts plague me. I try to stop thinking. I can't ruin this. It's too perfect.
Dean and I finally break away, taking a breath each. He looks into my eyes. My heart is melting as I feel another blush coming on. There's an awkward silence in the air.
"I didn't think this through, did I?" Says Dean, breaking the silence.
"What's wrong?" I say.
Oh no."Did I go too fast? Did I make this whole day awkward for you?"
"No...not really. But I mean, we just started talking yesterday..."
"Ugh." Dean's shaking his head and covering his face.
"No, no, Dean. It's okay though. I had a fun day, I mean not a fun morning, but a fun day overall."
"Really?! But, we literally just kissed!" Poor Dean looks so confused and conflicted with his actions.
"Dean. It's fine. Not everyone has to go slow. I think it felt right. One foot in front of the other, remember?"
Dean gives me a small smile. He blushes softly. "Melany, why didn't we talk before? I swear, you know the perfect things to say."
"I have no idea. It just kind of comes over me I guess? I don't know, Dean." I say, laughing again.
"So-uh-what now?"
"What do you prefer?" I say, unsure myself.
"Maybe we don't make it awkward, but take it a little slower?" Dean hesitates as if this is life changing.
"So, we go back to yesterday morning?"
"Yeah. But you'd better watch out. Now that I know you better I'm gonna be a cocky bastard and just tell you pick up lines all day for the rest of the year, maybe even next." Dean laughs.
"Oh, really? Well I'm going to be that girl who gives you a nice comeback every time you say those pick up lines." I say with a poisonously sweet voice.
"Deal, Ramson."
"Well Tailor, I should go. Thanks for this." I say, getting up. It's probably the end of school anyways. I start to walk, but I hesitate, running back to Dean, who's getting up himself. I run into his arms, and give him a quick hug. He hugs me back, as if letting go of what just happened today would be the end of him. Having an idea, I whisper to him: "This doesn't mean we can't be friends, you know..." And Dean starts to smile.

(Dean's POV/Warning: Drinking, smoking, and stuff about the birds and the bees towards the end)
It's been three days since Melany and I kissed in the field. Since then, we've been snarky friends. I like it, but I wish I hadn't gone so fast. I am grateful, however, that she didn't run away or avoid me. That was nice of her.
It's Friday night, and as usual, my mates are dragging me to another party. I haven't told them what happened between me and Melany. Well, except Jay. Jay and I have known each other for ages, so I knew he'd understand. Joking comments aside, Jay understood. He wanted me to go with them so I could get closer to everyone else so maybe one day I could tell them. Jay will suffice for now, and he always does. He knows everything about me. Even my...thoughts.
