The DragonKeeper Chronicles and companions by Donita K. Paul are by far the best books I have read. I can happily say they top the Hunger Games trilogy, and with no hesitation I can say that they blow Seekers away. One of the reasons is that, unlike most series, this one doesn't get worse the further along it gets. Each book is even more interesting than the last, with plenty of ooh! and aw! and yes! moments along the way. There's a diversity of character I've never been able to find anywhere else, not even in the Warriors books- and there are at least a hundred characters in those things. If you took out even the smallest, seemingly most insignificant character, the storyline would suffer. Everybody plays a vital role in the story, with no extras and no expendables. Each character suits a different type of reader, keeping everybody entertained.
Another thing I like about The DragonKeeper Chronicles is that it is for male and female audiences alike. There's just enough romance to please girly-girls, and just enough so the boys won't mind. Ok, so there's not that much romance that will qualify as 'romance', but you girly-girls will still love it, I give you my word and a bet of five bucks that you will. There's also just enough violence to have the boys caught in the web of the DragonKeeper and the girls cheering for whichever side they prefer. The fantastical creatures and the half-real half-mystical setting is written to draw in even those who's reluctance to read fantasy matches an agoraphobic's reluctance to step outside and see the world.
The best part is that even after reading The DragonKeeper Chronicles three times, you'll still be coming back for more, trying to remember everything, put together all the pieces, pull back every last detail and cherish it- you'll get the urge to just grab the first book and start reading again. You can't get enough of the dynamic characters, the frivolous setting, the diverse plotline- I should know, since I have the first book in front of me just begging to be opened and read.
Will you read the series of a lifetime?
