You're not like Korra!" My father's voice roared across his study as his hand slammed on the desk. My heart raced, I was scared and completely afraid, silenced by his actions. My lips curled before I spoke, I felt my eyes getting moist. "I-I can't live like this" my fists clenching as I felt up tears running down my cheeks.
It had always been hard for me to accept the lifestyle my parents forced me into, always showing mannerisms, freedom having it's limits and how my hair was "unmanly",what bothers me most was the mistreatment I received. My sister was the star of the family, always the smartest, the strongest. I loved her, but she never agrees with me.
Ever since I hit puberty my father noticed a few characteristics about me, the way I spoke, the way I move in combat, who I hang out, why I prefer having girls as friends more than guys. To him I'm the weakest link in my family, I try my best to make him proud, but he asks for too much. I cant lie to myself anymore.
My mother who had always been protective of me stood behind my dad trying to calm him down. She was looking at me as if I had done an unforgivable crime, looking off from her I found myself looking at my reflection through the icy floor. Wiping my tears I looked up at my father who was facing the opposite direction away from me, I stood and started walking towards them, my heart was racing once again, thoughts storming like a blizzard. "Fath—". My mother shot me a scowling look gesturing me to leave them alone. I nodded and started walking towards the immense hall, being raised in a noble family offered many luxuries. A fancy house, an enormous garden, bedrooms of utmost comfort. But all that seemed so shallow to me...
The reason my father had been upset with me was because I asked Master Verona if I could stay in the Southern Watertribe with Korra, of course my father thinks we are better than the Southern Watertribes as if they are 'too low' for us. Nonsense, if only uncle Unalaq gives me permission to leave without my parents knowledge. I scratched the back of my head letting out a long sigh. "There is only one way to get out of this place...".
Sunrise was upon me, I told myself there is no looking back now. I left a note next to my parents door, 'I'm sorry'. I said in my head. It was a sleepless night, it took me all night to pack up and think of a way to get out safely, it all came down to sneaking into a cargo boat to Republic City, and perhaps from there I'll depart for the Southern Watertribe. Once my parents find out that I'm missing they'll look into the ships leaving for the South Pole, I smirked admiring my master plan. "What are you doing?" A voice came from behind me. A shiver ran through my back as I tried to not look behind."I prepared breakfast for you in the dining room, you should eat before doing anything." It was my parents servant, Jinn an ease washed over me as I looked backwards with a bright smile. "Of course I will! Thank you Jinn" Giving her a quick bow as I walked through the giant hallway once more. Thinking to myself how close that was, Jinn had always been a nice lady. She always cared for everyone's well being, apparently she was from the Southern Watertribe. My grandfather took her from the Southern Watertribe's orphanageDue to her bad condition she needed someone to take care of her, she passed away from her severe illness.
I wore a blue cloak that covered my whole body, it belonged to my grandfather and was found in his storage area around the household. I sneakingly made my way towards the stables where I had to meet an old friend for aid, as I neared the stables I looked around the wooden shacks." She should be in the 4th one." I said to myself as I approached her small cabin. The odor of animal dump was surrounding the whole area, I squeezed my nose to try and block the smell. I looked over the little door only to notice her asleep, "Nuuka, wake up!" I whispered in a rush. Nuuka started stretching and grunting, Nuuka means the bay I named her after my fathers first ship she was a beautiful polar bear dog. Korra gave her to me when she found Naga, they were young and little at the time. Nuuka started licking me and trying to lift me up with her head, "wow look at you! You're all grown up!" I hugged her and let her lick me trying to avert her from licking me in the face. "Come on lets get you out of here." I place her saddle on and tried to mount her, she was big alright. The size of two Mika's, I put my hood back on and gestured Nuuka to get moving.
Traveling through the small buildings in the lower areas towards the docks was easier than I thought, we nearly got recognized by some guards. I suppose my parents did not realize I was gone yet, I patted Nuuka on her head, she liked that. "Good girl." I gave her a treat I was keeping for her, I had a feeling we were getting close to the ships. I pulled Nuuka's reins and unmounted her, looking over to the huge bay filled with many ships. Spotting the black ship with red underlines had to be the one leaving for Republic City, joy filled my spirit.
A huge platform opened, workers were loading shipment into the huge storehouse at the lower section of the ship. I signaled Nuuka to follow as we snook past the huge crate being moved from the dock to the platform. 'At last' I thought to myself, We sat by a corner behind the huge boxes that covered the whole corner. I heard some guards yelling at the dock workers, my body was all numb, my heart was tearing through my chest. 'They're going to catch me its over'. Fear took over me, my hands were shaking, I knew it was over. A loud horn tore through my emotions, my eyes started watering as the sound of the horn sent a relieving sensation through my body. The ship is leaving, I could not help but let out a small giggle. The feeling of freedom felt so refreshing, I hugged Nuuka and went to sleep resting my head on her huge tummy.
