Fallen

Needless to say, had it not been for me, Liam Payne would've died that night.
But he didn't. And now he stood before me, alive and well, and also, not behind bars. That was the confusing part.
Everybody else stared at us, waiting for us to explain.
"She saved my life," Liam said, still looking at me.
"I was doing my job," I corrected him.
"Are you saying you regret it?" He questioned.
My eyes wandered to the floor and I stayed silent.
"So why is she here?" The curly haired guy asked again.
"I'll explain that later, Harry," Louis said, under his breath.
"No man," the last guy spoke up. He had dark hair and snake bite style piercings. "Explain now. Why'd you drag this girl with you? If she witnessed something you could just take care of her and-"
Louis glanced at me and then back to the boys. Still looking at them, he spoke.
"Eleanor, bathroom. Now."
"What? No," I said. "Not again-"
Louis turned around and looked down at me. I winced as he grabbed me right where my bruise was.
"I wasn't asking," he growled.
He dragged into the bathroom and left me in there. He didn't lock the door because it could only be locked from the inside but I was smart enough not to come out.
"No eavesdropping this time," he said through the door. His tone warned me not to disobey.
I huffed and sat back in the toilet lid, gently messaging my arm. The bathroom light flickered a few times.
I heard some raised voices, mostly Louis, who sounded defensive.
Curiosity got the better of me, once again, and I pressed me ear to the door.
"That's not it! I just- You didn't see it, Zayn. Her boyfriend was an abusive dick!"
"So you just decided to take her with you because you pitied her?" That was Snake Bites talking.
"Yeah, mate," Harry said. "This was a bad idea. Now she's seen too much, anyways. If it's not like that then we should just get rid of her and dump the body on our way out."
My blood was frozen and a chill ran down my spine. If I made a run for it now, from the bathroom to the main door, would I make it? I could run down to the lobby and tell girl at the front desk to call the police.
But then again, there was no guarantee they wouldn't kill her too.
I heard a rustling sound and a loud thump.
"We're not killing her, Harry..." Louis' voice was low.
"Come on, guys. Take it easy," I heard a feminine voice say. It had to be the girl with the pink in her hair. "Look, she didn't do anything wrong, in fact, she saved Liam's life once. This isn't her fault. You're going to kill her over something Louis decided to do to her? That's not fair..."
I was starting to like this girl.
"Perrie has a point," I heard Liam say.
"So what are we going to do?" Zayn asked.
"We'll figure it out," Liam said. I heard footsteps and I quickly sat back on the toilet seat in time for the door to open.
Liam stood in the doorway.
"Come on," he jerked his head.
I hesitated. I guess hearing people talk about your possible execution could make your joints a little stiff.
Liam gave a small chuckle.
"We're not going going hurt you," he said.
I didn't exactly believe him, but what could I do?
I stood up and went back into the main room. He followed behind me.
I saw Zayn and Harry sitting on the bed while Perrie was on the couch. Louis was staring out the window looking frustrated, angry, and, if I wasn't mistake, a little embarrassed.
He didn't look up when I walked in.
Liam sat down on the arm of the couch. I stayed where I was, standing in the middle of the room.
"Eleanor," Liam said. "This is Zayn, Har-"
"I know who you guys are," I cut him off. My voice was quiet.
"Then you'll notice we're one short," Zayn spoke up.
I looked at him, confused, for a minute before I noticed what he'd meant. There were five members of One Direction but there were only four present.
I looked around the room, making a checklist in my head, then I realized who was missing.
"Niall Horan," I said. I remembered Niall. He was in prison with Liam when I worked there. He was one of my favorite people there, even out of the staff. He was always really cheeky and surprisingly, we got along.
Zayn nodded and opened his mouth to speak but Harry cut him off.
"Why don't we talk about this tomorrow? I'm exhausted."
"Yeah, I'm with you, mate," Liam said and then addressed Louis. "We've got a couple of room across the hall. We'll start on the plan tomorrow, yeah?"
"Sounds good," Louis said.
Everybody, with the exception of me and Louis, made their way out of the room.
Perrie stopped in the doorway and turned to me.
"You probably don't know who I am," she said. "My name's Perrie." I accepted the hand she reached out to me. "I'm Zayn's girlfriend."
I was sincerely confused by this.
"Why?" I breathed.
She just looked at me and chuckled.
She turned around and followed the others out the door, calling goodnight to Louis over her shoulder.
