chapter 4

''I know what I saw'' says Kylie certain. She sits on the black stool, a light hovering over her. Mark sighs, and says ''you were just fatigued. When every person is fatigued, especially in a horror movie, they see these things appear.''

Kylie shoots back, irritated ''and every person that doesn't believe them, is totally wrong. Don't doubt me, Mark. You know exactly what you went through..''

Mark, angrily turns around to face her and says ''don't bring that back up here. This is the present, that is the past'' he reminds her. Kylie looks up at him glaring. '' you obviously don't want to believe me, like the movies''

Mark shouts at her ''This is real life! this isn't a movie!'' She flinches of the angriness of his face. He sighs, looking down, and he pinches his nose bridge. Kylie, sits there quiet. ''look'' he begins with a soft voice, looking at her. '' I understand that you've nearly drowned, but that could just be you...hallucinating from reading that up''

She abruptly stands up, hands clenched into a fist. She stands her ground and feels indigent of his words. '' so, explain how I was wet!'' she crosses her arms, her jaw is set, and can see a little muscle in the corner showing from anger. She demanded a proper answer, but Mark didn't give her the proper answer.

''I understand.. but when I walked in there was nothing going on...all calm'' She infuriated with anger she felt the impulse to through the pillow at him. Mark catches it lightning fast, and his eyes turn into a smoldering glare of fire at her.

''All ghosts do that! Are you thinking narrow?!'' she yells. Mark clenches the pillow in his hand tightly. ''I may be thinking that, but that may change later  ''

''look I'm not-'' She trails off striding to her room, blooming off anger. Mark shakes his head and sets the pillow down on the island counter.

why does he think this is all just my mind game?! I'm not mental at so once!

Kylie gazes out the window, sitting on her bed. Her hands are folder on her lap tightly, that she can feel the muscles of her hand.  ''look, I don't think your crazy'' Mark says, as if reading her mind. He stands by the doorway, arms crossed.

Kylie stares forward, burning through the window. ''I'm sorry'' Mark walks to her,  and sits next to her.  A gap is left in the middle of them. Kylie swallows hard. ''I know your mad, and infuriating with anger. But I lost myself there just now, and didn't believe you...like what happened in my earlier time''

He softly says. Kylie looks at him, with a forgiving expression. ''I understand. .but , we just need to drive it away'' Mark smiles, and says ''light an incense stick''

--

Kylie, light the black stick with a lighter. A flame light up top the stick, and Kylie lets it burn for a couple seconds.  The she fans her hand side to side, letting the flame out. The incense stick lights a orange color at the top and smoke rises from it. It smells of pure lavender.

She slowly turns to Mark with a smile, and says ''there''

Mark takes the stick, and places it in a glass cup of rice, so that it would stick up and not fall. The smoke of lavender fills the room, and Kylie inhales. ''ahhhh''

Kylie sighs in a relaxed way, and Mark relaxes. ''smells totally good, right?'' She nods, closing her eyes, and enjoying the serenity full of peace like a meadow.

Mark clears his throat softly, and she opens her eyes. ''hm...?'' She hums in confusion of his interruption. Mark, says ''don't enjoy it yet ''

''oh..'' she whispers. They still didn't know whether or not the spirit  had left its dreadful sins. Kylie, stands up and says ''do we know..?-I mean how?'' Mark shrugs his shoulders lazily and says, ''lets just leave the room''

They leave, and Kylie looks back into the room one last time with a hopeful look. She closes the door, and walks to the living room.

''I'm not done yet...''

whipsers the ghost. It takes the incense  stick,  and snaps it in half. Ashes fall on the carpet, and it soon faded away. There is no color, or light anymore to it. The sins of the spirits doing has returned to life.

Kylie, sits down at the couch. She could feel herself sinking in a bit, and Mark sits next to her.

''if this doesn't work...were moving on to a next idea''
