Chapter 5

Kylie looks at her room door, that was left ajar. Like a little kid, she pulls the sheet over her chin, her heart beat racing fast. Was her that was now hallucinating? The door appears to be slowly opening wider on its own, but stayed still at the same time.

Her hands turn clammy, from nervousness. She could feel her hair on her arms sticking up on all its ends. She licks her lips, and closes her eyes trying to sleep.

Dream

''you dont deserve to have a soul..you know what i went through so you will experience it slowly from time to time..''  the ghost cracks it's neck quickly, and makes several cracking sounds from its bones. Kylie cringes, and is hugging her knees.

Trembling with fear, a faint pale and dead hand extends to her slowly. The spirit walks to her, limping slightly. Kylie, horrified, with a a shaky hand reaches over to the knife on the nightstand quickly. She snatches it and points it to the spirit.

She knew that it couldn't go through it no matter what. But, what if it did? Quickly, the spirit appears in front her screeching loudly, showing its decayed rotten teeth, of sins.

''AHHHHHHH!''

She gives out a scream of terror, as she sits up quickly. Looking around and panting, with a a bead of sweat trickling down her forehead, she hastily wipes it off with a hand. Mark barges in tiredly, with a panicked expression. ''wha-what?'' he sounded breathless. The door knob hits the wall lightly as he holds out the door, from closing in.

She heaves a sigh and his shoulders heave from rushing out the living room. ''just-just a nightmare..''

Mark looks down, and back up at uneasy, shocked Kylie. She stares at the bed, tiredly and feels her eyelids dropping to sleep again. Mark walks to the nightstand, and picks up a candle.  A cinnamon candle.

It was the medium sized one, that was red. The jar had a sticker of the name. He walks to her and shows her the candle. ''if i light this, you'll be okay?'' he asks concerned. There was no light in the room, just darkness.

She nods frantically in fear, and deeply distraught over the fact that it wasn't leaving her. Kylie grits her teeth, soon she sees a flame that lit up in front her. It soon produces warm heat, and as soon as Mark places it on the nightstand beside her, the warmth dissipates into the corner.

Mark places a hand on her shoulder and assures her, just to make her feel better. ''Everything is OK, as long as im here'' She nods and Mark walks to the door.

He glimpse's at her, with a sharp look. The leaves the door ajar. Soon, Kylie hears his footsteps walking to the front and no more. She sinks under the sheets fatigued and unsettled with worry the creature could come up again, and take her very soul. Leaving her empty body of no life.

--

Kylie wraps her fingers around the white mug of coffee. The warmth travels up her arms, making her shiver in a good way. Giving a warm smile, Mark appears with the phone. She looks up at him, the blanket falling off her shoulder. She adjusts it until it covers both her cold shaky shoulders.

Mark hands her the phone.  In confusion, she takes the phone, and hesitantly puts in close to her ear. ''h-hello?'' She says in a shaky voice. Mark nods over to the living room, and she nods back. He leaves off wondering into his business.

''yes, are you Kylie Lambert?'' A feminine voice says. ''yes, Kylie here'' She shifts around in the black stool, listening carefully. ''who is this?'' she asks calmly. ''This is the association of Adirondack Ghost hunters'' Kylie makes an o with her lips, understanding.

''We had a recent report of a such spirit that been following you. Just to let you know, we are here to help you''  she assures.

Kylie, hesitantly says ''..okay..'' A feeling of uncertainty has overcome her.

She didn't know if these people are certified enough to do this. Well, lets see.  ''so, the arrangements...?'' Kylie asks. ''oh, if you want tomorrow at 11:00'' Kylie thinks looking up, trying to see if any plans have been made.

''Not that i know of. But, that's alright''Kylie firmly says smiling. The lady over the phone seems to be delighted. ''thank you! we'll be there sharp''

Beep

Kylie hangs up the phone, she exhales. She places the phone on the island counter, and rubs her thighs that were stinging, with hands. Mark appears at the kitchen arch, curious. ''so...'' He trails off, with raised brows.

Kylie looks at him and says ''its been decided. Tomorrow at 11:00 PM'' Mark smiles and sips his coffee. ''Lets just hope things wont get in the way'' Kylie looks forward, quietly. Hoping and expecting the spirit to dissipate away.

--

11:00 PM night of the investigation.

Kylie stands there patiently, but very nervous of what holds this investigation. She gazes at the coffee table, and leans on one leg, crossing her arms. Mark to, stands there nervous, listening to Adora speak.

Adora nods and with hope filled in her voice ''We hope to at least get something on camera tonight. This is a very dark and negative aura that haunts this one. And to you  especially, Kylie''

Kylie breaks her gaze  from the coffee table, and looks at Adora, nervously. Mark licks his lips, and Kylie nods. There were camera's set around the whole house, one's that could see in the dark.

Kylie wonders, if the spirit was moving now to its feet. If i was, then i'd probably do the same.

Flick!

Adora confidently turns off the lights. They were now standing in absolute silence, with there flashlights. They all turn on they lights, and circles appear flashing on the walls, looking around. Adora clears her throat, and with years of expertise she loudly says ''come out come out wherever you roam. You will not be living here forever, to haunt this one''

Kylie, puts on a serious look. Though, she could feel the hair rising to it's ends, afraid. She could the shiver rush down her spine, as she feels a whip of air pass through her faintly.

''its here'' Adora, looks around. The other boy, who was chewing gum, is ready. We all shine our lights around, but really all we see is objects. You just never know when it can pop up and scare the living thing out of you..

Mark, trembles with fear. He knew he was scared beyond anything little thing that moved. Kylie, was far more afraid, and felt ready to leave and run out the house screaming. Like a mad-woman.
