Denis POV
Sub, Braden, Ethan, and I had all arrived at Elijah's house a few hours ago, y/n and Sara we're here since they were told that they couldn't stay at the hospital any longer. We all sat in the living room quietly until finally Sub spoke up "if Alex doesn't mak-" Sara cut him off "I don't want to talk about that" Sub nodded understanding and y/n moved over closer to her comforting her as she started crying again.

Suddenly the doorbell rang so I went to answer it, I saw Keri, Loren, and Abby standing there. They ran past me and over to y/n and Sara. They all went upstairs leaving all the guys alone. I looked at them all and they looked at me "guys, I don't think Alex is going to make it.." they all nodded but Ethan stood up "what about Elijah?!" He sounded mad "Elijah is hurt too and you are all worrying about Alex!" Braden stood up walking over to Ethan "we are worried about Elijah too Ethan but Alex is on he verge of death" Ethan sat back down "but no one knows what's wrong with Elijah yet.." his voice trailed off and Braden sat next to him comforting him "he'll be fine don't worry" we all sat there for a while quietly thinking of the good times we had with Alex.

Your POV
Morning at the hospital
It was 9:20 and everyone was at the hospital sitting in the waiting room chairs. Ethan was sitting with his head in his hands while Keri sat next to him trying to comfort him, Denis and Braden were sitting next to each other, Loren, Sara, and Abby sat close together while Sub and I sat next to each other. I looked up as a doctor came out "who is here for Alex?" We all shot up and he looked a bit surprised at how many people were there. We all rushed over to him while he looked at us all and I saw sadness in his eyes "I'm very sorry but Alex passed away at 9:32am" I looked at a clock behind him noticing it was 9:35.

I wasn't able to cry with all the emotions rushing through me, I heard a loud cry from Sara and turned my head seeing her collapse on the floor. Loren and Abby quickly rushed over to her and hugged her, I saw everyone else crying and hugging each other until finally Ethan came up to the doctor "sir, how is Elijah Best?" The doctor smiled as if he was saved from giving bad news "Elijah will survive but he will have bad burns on his leg and back" I turned to Ethan and hugged him tightly crying tears of joy and sadness, one of my friends died and one is alive.

Sara POV
I fell to the floor feeling my heart shatter at the news that Alex was dead. I felt Loren and Abby hugging me as I sobbed on the hospital floor. I could hear everyone else crying, finally Abby and Loren pulled me up off the floor walking me toward Alex's room "I need him back" I said as I ran into his room seeing him laying there as pale as a white rose. I walked over to his bed crying and leaned over kissing his lips quickly before standing up straight again grabbing his hand feeling how cold he was. I just wanted to take his place but I knew I couldn't. I sat down in a chair still holding his cold pale hand crying.

Ethan POV
I walked with y/n into Elijah's room and saw him laying there in the bed with bruises on his face. I was holding y/n's hand and felt her let go of mine as she rushed over to the bed leaning over hugging him crying into his chest. I watched them walked over rubbing y/n's back feeling bad for her, I knew what it felt like and I wanted to be there for her. She let go of Elijah and stood up straight looking at me.

I pulled her into me hugging her while she sobbed into my chest, I looked over at Elijah and felt my eyes tear up. I wiped my eyes as y/n stopped hugging me turning back to Elijah holding his hand "you'll be okay baby, everything will be okay" she kissed his hand and we stood in there for a while.

Sub POV
I saw y/n and Ethan go into Elijah's room through the tears in my eyes and followed them . I walked into the room to see them standing there by Elijah's bed. They turned and looked at me and gave me a weak smile which I returned to them "is he awake?" Ethan shook his head "no, they don't know when he will wake up" y/n looked back at Elijah "he risked his life for Alex and now Alex is gone, Elijah will be heartbroken" I felt Sub place his hand on my shoulder as he stood by me "he tried his best" I nodded and placed me head on Sub's shoulder feeling him wrap his arm around my shoulders pulling me into him comforting me.

Your POV
We stayed there a little longer and were about to leave when suddenly Elijah stirred. I stared at him wide eyed as he slowly opened his eyes looking around the room, his eyes rested on me and I smiled "oh Elijah you're awake!" I hugged him crying into his shoulder as he hugged me tightly. Ethan and Sub ran out to get everyone else and soon everyone was in the room. I let go of Elijah and placed my forehead against his "you scared me, I thought I lost you" he gave me a weak smile "I wouldn't ever leave you"
I smiled kissing him before letting everyone else say hi to him.

I felt a nudge on my arm and turned to see Sub staring at me "you need to tell him" I took a deep breath and nodded turning to Elijah "Elijah I need to tell you something" he looked at me "okay but first how is Alex?" I heard everyone start crying behind me again and Elijah looked at them then back at me "y/n? Y/n is Alex.." I nodded and started crying again as Elijah layed there staring at the wall with a blank expression "but..I got him out of the fire..I thought I saved him, it's all my fau-" I cut him off "no Elijah! Don't even say that! You did all you could but Alex just wasn't able to fight through it, this isn't your fault!" He closed his eyes and I hugged him.

4 weeks later
Elijah's POV
I had gotten well enough to leave the hospital and go home but I couldn't do anything that would hurt me too much, y/n was always by my side making sure I was okay and now I knew what it was like for her when I was always by her side when she came home from the hospital. We all had a funeral for Alex a week after I got out of the hospital which was 4 weeks ago. Sara was staying with Loren and Abby who helped her through the tough times without Alex.

I asked y/n if they were dating "no, but I know Sara liked him, she wanted to date him" I nodded "where is everyone staying out here?" She looked at me "Sub is staying with my parents, Denis and Braden are staying at Alex's house with his family since they were the closest to Alex and Keri is staying here with Ethan, me, and you" I nodded "okay, I'm tired can we go to bed?" Y/N nodded and we went upstairs into my room laying on the bed facing each other.

I smiled at y/n and she smiled back but I knew she wasn't feeling happy "what's wrong?" She looked away from me and I noticed her eyes tearing up "hey, are you thinking of Alex?" She nodded and I pulled her into my chest as she cried holding her tightly "shhh it's okay, he is in a better place now" I felt sad because I still thought it was my fault that Alex isn't here now.

I blamed myself for all of this because I couldn't save Alex. I sighed and y/n and I hugged in bed, she looked up at me "Elijah" she said in a whisper I looked down at her "yes?" She gave a weak smile "don't blame yourself for this, I know you do blame yourself. I see it whenever you think of Alex, you look disappointed in yourself but it wasn't your fault. Trust me" I kissed her head "don't worry about it just get some rest" she nodded and placed her head on my chest again, finally exhaustion took over both of us and we fell asleep holding each other closely.
