I woke up on the floor of my room. The memmory of the story was fresh in my mind. I could still feel the shivers the story had given me.
I got up and looked at the time, it was only six. About an hour had passed since dinner.
Why did the wind show me the story? How could it help me? I stood there staring into space for about a minute before realizing I wasn't alone. My mom stood in my doorway watching me.
"Don't beat yourself up over it too much." She said misreading my expressions, "We've decided no tv and no phone for a week."
"Will do," I said knowing they would forget and I would be able to use my phone anyways and watch tv.
"Now go get cleaned up and then go to bed." She said smiling happily.
After I took a shower I practically fell into my bed asleep.
I used a tree to lean against as I caught my breath. What had just happened? I haven't thought about that day in years. So why now; of all times why now?
"Night, what are you doing?" Yelled Mar waking me from my daze.
"Nothing." I answered automatically.
"Good, because your dad needs your help. Hes at the Town Hall like normal." She explained.
Dread filled my body, "I'll pass." I responded trying to figure out a reason why I couldn't go and help him.
"Night he is the cheif, so you cannot just say no." She exclaimed now beside me.
"Well I just did." I said facing her, "besides either way I'm busy." I smilied devilishly.
"But you just said you weren't doing anything." She shouted.
"That was then; this is now. Get with the times Mar." I explained as I walked away slowly.
But before I could get away Mar grabbed my arm and looked me in the eyes. "Night," she said deadly serious, "you are next in line to be cheif, and you act like you don't even want to be. As in you never learn about your duties, help your father, or even hang out with the towns people. You are always by yourself. You are a joke of a soon to be cheif."
"Well Mar who ever said I wanted to be cheif in the first place? And I also truely love your honesty Mar; it makes me feel great." I smilied trying to hide my hurtness with anger. "Also Mar if I'm such a joke why don't you put in a suggestion for yourself as cheif, because I sure as heck don't want to be cheif."
"Well Night you better get over it, because thats your destiney. You are suppost to be cheif and you are going to be cheif." She growled.
"I've got other things to do." I sighed ready to leave.
"Like what? What could be more important than learning about being cheif Night?" She yelled obviously done with me, but wanting to yell and make me feel bad.
"I'm going to pay a visit to an old friend of mine," I said smiling as I yanked my arm from her grasp. With that I ran. I left Mar in shock and confusion as I ran towards the white wooden house.
Would she reconize me? I didn't look like the six year old boy she had last saw. I was sixteen now; ten years had past since we had saw each other on that fateful day. Did she still live there? Yes, she had to, she couldn't have moved. I remembered that memory for a reason. I just had a feeling she was waiting on me.
When I finally made it to the edge of the forest I was met with a tall wooden fence. "Odd. This wasn't here last time." I commented to myself. "Welp its not a big deal." I shrugged.
I easily climbed up a nearby oak tree that had some branches that hung over the fence. Once I got on one of those branches I could easily see the window we had climbed out of, and the roof I had fell off of.
I watched from the tree until I was positive she still lived here. I waited feeling like a strange stalker if it wasn't her house anymore. But right as I was going to give up the most beautiful girl I had ever seen walked towards the window. Slowly she opened the window and climbed onto the roof with ease giving me the knowledge she did this often.
The moon made her glow with mystery. Her hair was honey blonde about mid-waist. She was in her pjs; a grey tank top with red flannel bottoms. She looked perfect. Heaven take me now, I thought as she crouched down so she wouldn't fall. I smile of pure delight lit her face as the wind blew against her pulling her hair back.
This couldn't be her; no this wasn't Day. Yet I still wasn't sure. Alot could happen in ten years I knew looking at what all had happened to me in the past years.
She stood up again, and I could of sworn my heart skipped a beat when she ran and jumped off the roof landing perfecticaly fine. Once down she ran silently towards me. For a moment I thought she had spotted me and heart began to race, but instead she opened the fence gate to the left of me and dissappeared inside the forest.
A part of me told me I had to follow her, so I jumped down and trailed her.
