P.S. Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes.

Growing up, spending half her childhood on krypton, Kara wasn't seen as different. She didn't have to hide a part of herself when she was like the people around her. She still was her usual quirky self and since they had a red sun, she didn't have powers. She didn't have the superstrength or heat vision to worry about. Then everything changed, she was on a new planet and had these abilities that she didn't know how to use. Superman left her with the danvers and didn't seem to worry about how she would have to learn to control her powers. Jeremiah helped where he could, giving her the glasses to help with the x-ray vision, but no one really knew how it felt to have to hold in these sudden overwhelming powers. Kara did what she could to keep control of herself but like any teenage she had mood swings. Alex would hold her and tell her everything would be okay but as Kara got older she realized she had to hide. Alex would help her not feel weak but she had to rely on herself to feel strong. She couldn't be Kara Zor-El, a Kryptonian, she had to blend in with everyone else. She had to become Kara Danvers, a human. She felt strength in her secret.

Kara's still on the ground of a janitor's closet presses harder on the earpiece as she tries to piece together her thoughts and explain them to Alex.

"Alex, I have focused most of my life on this planet trying to be like everyone else. I went to school like a normal kid would, even though I had the knowledge of a freshman in college when I got here. I tried eating like them, thought that didn't really stick. I made friends with anyone who would actually talk to the new weird nerdy kid in school." kara takes a deep breath, wiping away the last of her tears, before continuing. "I dated boys because every teenage girl would fond over them and I wanted to be like those girls. I wanted to see a boy and think 'he's cute' even though I didn't."

"Kara, you didn't have to do that." Alex sympathizes.

"You did." Kara states matter of factly.

"What?" Alex replied shocked.

"When you told me that you were gay and had feelings for Maggie, I wasn't shocked and confused because of you. I was confused because of me."

"You're confusing me right now, Kara."

"Alex, you would go out with a boy and come back looking a little lost but you looked... not happy.... but content with the outcome. I would get excited because I wanted to know more about the human ways of courtship and you would smile and tell me everything." Kara's eyes glaze over thinking about those times in their room when Alex would make snacks for kara, sit on their beds, and tell her everything about her date.

"I smiled because I had a sister to share these things will."

" I know that now but it was different then. I didn't really know anything about this world or its ways of relationships. Krypton was destroyed before I could even experience any of that. I look at you and Maggie now, and I see you look at her with such love and affection." Kara's shoulder's shake with laughter. "You're so happy now and I want that for me, but to have that I need.... I need..."

"You need to tell her Kara"

"She doesn't have a great track record with alien..." kara hesitantly says.

"So what, you think because her brother and mother want aliens gone she won't give you a chance. Come on, Kara."

"You know that's not it either Alex. I've defended her when everyone was against her on that very topic. I just... I feel like... I'm an alien so... I'm different from her usual... people that would pursue her." Kara stutters.

"So what!! Kara, why do you care so much about her reaction to you being an alien." Alex pushes.

"I... I..."

"Kara, come on, just tell me already."
