A few weeks had passed now and I had finally asked Emily on a date for tonight. We were meeting at 6.30 at her house which gave me just under an hour to get ready. I found a nice pair of jeans to go with a new top I bought early in the day and then doubled checked everything was ready. Movie tickets? Check. Wallet and phone? Check. Once I was sure I had everything I put on some expensive aftershave (David Beckham of course😂) and left for her house.
When I got to her house I knocked on her door - flowers in one hand and movie tickets in the other. She was wearing a nice red top and blue jeans, something so casual but she still looked stunning. I gave her the flowers to put inside then we walked hand in hand to the cinema. We were watching Beauty and the Beast, the new one, something that I had no interest in but hey, if she likes it I'm fine with it.
At the cinema I bought us a large popcorn to share along with a drink and some sweets each as well. We took our seats and chatted while we waited for the film to start. We spoke about our plans for life, college and other bits. When the lights finally dimmed and the film began to play she cuddled up to me again. This summer was so much better than I expected.
We left the cinema a few hours later, hand in hand and still smiling. We grabbed some chips and decided to head to the hill in the woods again and watch the sunset. Once we sat down we are our chips in silence, just enjoying the view and the moment. I turn to look at her and was instantly drawn to her eyes again. We leaned in closer and before I new it we were kissing. "Well..." I said pulling away after 30 seconds. "That was a surprise, but a welcome one to be sure."
Once it started to get cold we decides to head back. Still laughing and joking about the night we weren't really paying as much attention as we should have been to where we were. As we got to the crossing by her house we took one step out before instantly regretting it. I heard a loud horn and the screech of tires but it was too late. I looked just in time to see the car collide with Emily, sending her body flying across the road. "FUCK!" I cried, "this can't be happening!" I ran over to her body, begging for her to still be alive. Shortly after an ambulance arrived and I was left on the side of the road, wondering how it all went so wrong.
