you sank down into the uncomfortable chair at the table so that you were sitting opposite cassie. she looked up at you, wondering why you had sat with her, as if she could sense that you were going to say something bad. michelle had told you about cassie's eating disorder and you were very worried about her because you cared about cassie a lot and you always defended her whenever anybody called her crazy.
"cas, i've heard that you stopped eating again."
you said nervously, wondering what her reaction would be. her eyes turned from dazed to angry and you went quiet, waiting for her words. you knew that she would try and push you away but you wanted to help her so much. she plastered a toothy grin onto her face that you knew as fake.
